A Bending Review!
My cousin is a member at Horseshoe Bend so when I visit Roswell, GA my clubs are always with me! I’ve played this course a dozen or so times and in all different climates. Chilli February, winding rainy April, Steamy hot August and every thing in between. The course has it’s challenging holes, some shots that dare you to “just go for it” like the 5th hole. A short par 4, about 285 (from blue tee) but all over water. A skinny fairway for the not so daring but miss too far right and the lake will eat you up. Pass that test and make your way through to the 9th tee. There you’ll sit high about the landing area 100+ feet down hill. If you hit it just right this short par 5 will allow you to get home in two. But if you don’t get to the bottom of the hill do not try and make that 250 yard approach over the pond! You won’t make it and it will just wreck for your front nine! Grab a beer and a dog and take a nice 4 iron off the 10th tee. This is another on of those enticing shots that make you want to “go for. It”! Put that driver down and take a deep breath. A nice 200+ yard drive leaves you a short iron in to a very long green. Oh the Greens! Like putting on Glass’ totally not fair but I’m getting used to it. The 15th, 16th and 17th are all good scoring holes but it’s setting you up for that long Par 5 18th. Sitting again high above the landing area by a good 100’ but stay right, the left is all woods and at the bottom and a mud, muck, marshy danger! If you can get down to the middle right you have about a 240yrd shot over the creek and up to a slick green surrounded by DEEP bunkers. All in all a real nice course for all handi caps. I’ll be back. I need to break 80!
Great All Around Club
What a treat! Played with a member and everything was fantastic at the club. The members were friendly and welcoming, the staff was helpful and courteous, the course beautiful and in great shape.
Course- Coming from Florida, the hills and elevation changes made this course a lot of fun. Fairways were good and greens were very fast but rolled true. Mixture of difficult and easy holes but the course was very fair with some good risk/reward holes. Holes 9 & 18 play as straight downhill par 5s and are a great way to end each of the 9s.
Club house/lounge - All of the members and staff were very friendly. The mens lounge was a great place to hang out after the round and watch sports and enjoy a good dinner.
All in All, I already told my friend that I will be making the trip back next year to play again. If you get the chance to play, don't pass it up.
Treated like family at Horseshoe bend
I played with a member today, WOW. The course was in great condition I was blown away how even though we are almost in December the grass was green. The clubhouse was absoulutley massive and the staff treated me like I was a member. The clubhouse on the inside feels like a cabin with a fireplace and a large bar and grill. Before the round we decided to have lunch. The restraunt was great. I had a very good burger with fries. The putting green is big and is kind of weird with the rock on the practice putting green. The driving range had alignment sticks and lots of flags and many places to go to. The course itself was great the grass was so green and the greens where like tabletops. There where numerous holes with water and 9&18 had rocks in the water I guess you could say waterfalls. 16 was a great hole to. Overall this was an enjoyable experience.
