Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
About
Situated at the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, the Lakes Golf Course at Laura S. Walker State Park is home to an abundance of native plants and wildlife including alligators, gopher tortoises, and blue herons. True to its name, the course has three large lakes and the layout is routed through numerous varieties of oak trees and palmettos. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with heavily undulating greens, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. There is also subtle but tricky, links-style mounding defining each of the fairways and landing areas. The course strikes a nice balance of player-friendly and difficult holes but be prepared for the final holes on both the front and back nine, they are considered the toughest on the golf course.

Will never return
By seeing the reviews on the course I thought it was going to be a great round of golf today. I never play at The Lakes Laura S. Walker. As I walk in the club house the employe checking me in was really short and rude. First 3 holes were great, from there it was horrible. Theirs nobody to clear you to go ahead and start play, so as a ground of 7 we’re playing they backed up 6 other groups. As I was the 6th. Greens have recently been sprayed with grass seed. So their like putting on concrete. By the 11th hole I got tried of waiting almost 15 mins in between shots. And called it a day. Would not recommend this course.
Greens are getting redone soon which will help as there isn’t much grass left to putt on at the moment. Have played here for years and is an excellent course for ladies.
Needs work
The layout is good, fairways and sand traps are good, but the greens need a lot of work.
Incredible Value but Course Seen better Fall Seasons
I play here often, have seen it immaculate and seen it embarrassing. This trip was in the middle. Greens were very inconsistent, appeared several were dormant or dead and painted, and others had wooly patches. Made it difficult to determine approach and putting was as much luck as skill. The bunkers were in great shape compared to previous visits, but awfully shallow the two sand shots I had my club got into the liner under the sand. Pace of play was great, 3 of us played 18 holes in 2 hours 10 minutes thanks to courteous groups letting us through.
Nice course for the price
Overall the course is worth the price but the greens are quick and need some work
Bang for you $$
I have played this Course several times. I have also played other Courses in the area, and for the money you pay, no Course comes close for what you pay to play. Some of the Greens need some work, but not to the point where it will affect your game. Trust me when I tell you alot of Courses in the area need to be ashamed that they call their Courses Country Clubs, because I feel sorry for anyone that has to pay Monthly dues to be a member. I really enjoy playing here.
HIDDEN GEM
Worth the drive from jville. My friends and took a chance and it has a lot of courses in jville beat the staff, layout and better yet veterans play for free on veterans day!!
No courses in jville offer that to my knowledge...
We will definitely go back any play for sure what a nice time we had playing.
Staff (Mike) and everyone were very nice and invited us back.
WORTH THE DRIVE
I have eagerly waiting for the right time to play this course and after a two hour drive it was worth it.. The staff was awesome. We are thinking about making this an annual trip on Veteran Day.
Passing through.
Played this course while passing through the area. Very nice, carved out of the forest in a state park. Fun layout and in good shape.
I like the course
I like the course, I play here around once every 2 months. The greens are very patchy, bumpy & look like they are dying. We ran out of sand in our 2 bottles after 3 holes & there was nowhere on the course to refill the bottles with sand. I’m wondering if the greens are going to improve over winter months

I dont know what course you played but it could not be this one. There is no way in three days the course could be in great shape. I played this course 8/11/2020, even after all the rain only one CPO and that was hole 8. All greens were running smooth.
