Well laid out...several holes could be signature holes. It seemed like there was something interesting on every hole... and yet it plays fair!

The driving range leaves something to be desired. Also, it would help to have food available after 2:00..

Course needs some care and repair but some of the best greens I’ve played in a while. They actually held balls from high fairway shots with excellent back spin. Lots of wildlife, enjoy the peacocks,

If you want 300m drive , you must play that course!

Absolutely gorgeous day for playing. Course was in very good shape. Not really an issue but the driving range tee-off area could use a make over….level the area and new grass. All Makalei personnel were very friendly and helpful. Also, enjoyed the wild life.

Excellent challenge, not for the faint of heart. Bring a few extra bowls, you’ll need them. Don’t be too aggressive as there’s a lot of gotchas. But the beauty and the nature is amazing with all the wildlife running around. Don’t forget your camera.

Was great time back at makalei after giving it few months off. There is new management running front of house which is professional while at same time bringing da welcoming Big Island ALOHA. Can't wait for Makalei to be one the longest tracks on the island. Dad and I will be back again in very near future. Mahalo Tim and staff

Had a great time. Beautiful course.but very hilly and some narrow fairways. We lost a lot of balls.

Picture Perfect Day, no one was around in the afternoon. I invited a visiting friend from Montana and we had a great time. Course was in really nice shape. I really like the improvements that they have been making. I will continue to go there as my #1 course for the price.

Very rugged challenging course. Slopes and hills on every fairway. Beautiful scenery and plenty of birds. Greens were fast and lots of slopes. Would play again.

Lots of uphill and downhill holes. Fairways were kind of rough but greens were very good

Course is going downhill fast. In the 6 years I’ve been playing courses on the big island, I can say that this course is the lowest on my list. Probably will not play again unless huge improvements are made.

Also, charged full rate and only able to finish 14 holes due to the terrible pace of play and the fact that carts need to be back by 5:30 even though there’s still another 1/2 hr - 40 mins of useable daylight remaining. I understand times are tough with Covid, but course is really bad.

Fun course after you've played it once. Very hilly and scenic and weather can be unpredictable with wind and rain.

This course is absolutely terrible from start to finish and it has nothing to do with the layout or any of the golf holes. The management is completely inept at another other than making excuses. If this is your career path running a place like this it is time to take a long hard look in the mirror. YOU ARE UNABLE TO RUN A GOLF COURSE AND ITS TIME TO SHUT THIS TRASH HOLE DOWN. If a course offers a restaraunt and bar, a driving range and 18 holes and the only thing actually available is 18 holes then more then 75% of your amenities are closed. THINK ABOUT IT. WHY ARE YOU OPEN?????
