Orchards Golf Course

About
The Orchards Golf Club in Belleville offers an 18-hole championship course designed by Belleville native and former Masters winner Bob Goalby. With four sets of tees, the course appeals to a wide range of skill levels. The layout starts out with a gentler front nine where you won’t find any doglegs on the first six holes but as you move towards the back nine, the course gets more challenging. The golf course has an interesting and diverse mix of holes, with the seventh through the 14th being a particularly notable stretch. You’ll have to contend with abundant out-of-bounds and both water and sand come into play often. In addition to the golf course, the Orchards G.C. boasts a multi-level driving range as well as a large practice putting green with a sand bunker.

This might be the driest course I’ve ever played. Lost a few balls that landed in the middle of the fairway from how dry and hard the fairways are.
One Complaint!
All the drinking water tastes like dishwashing soap!!!! Need to rinse the jugs more thoroughly after cleaning!!!
Nice course
Course in good condition. Bathroom at 10th hole needs cleaned up & working lights. Price is too high.
Fun Track
The staff was extremely professional and friendly, tees very nice, fairways a little suspect but not bad, and the greens rolled true!
Tight and Dry
A challenging layout with very little forgiveness off the fairways. You need to be accurate off the tee or it will cost multiple strokes. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were in decent shape - a couple burnt out areas. This course needs water - mostly I mean to be watered. It was very dry except where they have drowned areas to keep them alive. The plus was my drives went further when they were straight. I probably won't be back soon mostly because there are courses close to my home that offer a similar experience.
Tee Times 6 Minutes Apart
I played on a Saturday with another group of three and there were tee times scheduled 6 minutes apart. For the first few holes, the pace wasn't too bad, but coming up to the par-5 4th hole, there were 4 groups waiting for the tee box, including a twosome behind us who decided to leave. We ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes before finally teeing off. After that, the pace sped up a tiny bit, and we ended up playing most of the back nine without delay. The round ended up being a little over 4 1/2 hours.
On more negative notes, the carts get swarmed by sweat bees for the first few holes, some of the tee boxes are hard as rocks, some of the bunkers are also hard (but others are really nice), and the 18th hole is a terribly designed, almost 600-yard-long par-5, with an almost zero chance of making the green in two unless you can drive the ball to just before the dogleg at around 340 yards.
On a positive note, the greens were rolling true and the cost wasn't too bad. The ground under the fairways and rough were a bit dry, but playable.
Enjoyed
Don't know if it's all the time but did not see anyone until hole 13, made for a peaceful and enjoyable round of golf.
Had a fun time, with a small complaint
This was my first time playing at Orchards and I honestly had a great time. Brought a friend that is learning to play, along my usual group. We took advantage of a hot deal from golf now and I would say it was definitely worth it. The only main complain I would have if any was the older gentleman, I assume the marshal was pretty rude. Small gripe; I have never been to a course where you aren't allowed to drive in the rough except for designated spots, so when he rolled up shaking his head at me and rolling his eyes, it was a little off-putting to say the least. I definitely missed the fine print on that one on the cart card, but either way, I'd be glad to come back with the friends...really pretty layout for my taste.
Was hoping for a better experience!
The course in the facilities have a substantial amount of wear and tear, fair amount of crabgrass & weeds throughout the course. Definitely needs a facelift and some TLC.! Opened up as a premier course back in the day, not so much now.
Great Time
Went on Father's day. The pace of play was the slowest I have seen while playing here but totally makes sense for the day. Usually have great pace of play. Such a cool course to play!
Great course, needs better tee time management
The pace of play was super slow. Did go on Fathers day tho so that may be why. What usually took 3.5 hours took 5.5 hours. Had to wait for a cart and there were several different tee times stopped at holes waiting to play. Overall great course.
Fun course
I would like to play this course again during drier conditions. There were a lot of puddles and mud from all of the recent rain. Overall the course was fine and well maintained.
Well-manicured Fairways and Greens!
Great course conditions. Solid pace of play. Would help if iced water would be readily available free of charge.
Good pace
Our foursome and groups in front and behind us played quickly. The tee boxes were a little rough but in line with price paid. The folks at the bar and pro shop were nice and a good day was had by all
