Orchards Golf Course
About
The Orchards Golf Club in Belleville offers an 18-hole championship course designed by Belleville native and former Masters winner Bob Goalby. With four sets of tees, the course appeals to a wide range of skill levels. The layout starts out with a gentler front nine where you won’t find any doglegs on the first six holes but as you move towards the back nine, the course gets more challenging. The golf course has an interesting and diverse mix of holes, with the seventh through the 14th being a particularly notable stretch. You’ll have to contend with abundant out-of-bounds and both water and sand come into play often. In addition to the golf course, the Orchards G.C. boasts a multi-level driving range as well as a large practice putting green with a sand bunker.

Typical Orchards
I was a single, so pace of play was really bad. As expected the course was typical conditions for the Orchards. Thin fairways with several areas under repair. I had to bump balls all day that were in center of fairway with little grass or dirt for a lie. The greens were "cross cut", ( top dressed and sandy) not sure that's accurate label, but they were thin and chewed up as usual. Something positive, hmm... sand traps were ok. Same old Orchards year after year!!!! Frustrating !!!
Fair test and good playabiliy
Course was very playable to golfers of all levels and was well manicured except for one or two patchy fairways.
Nice course- worth the trip
The course was in great shape, even with the greens ariated. It's been a couple years since I've played but will definitely go back soon.
Nice improvements
I had not played this course for a couple of months and was very pleased with the work on the cart paths. Fairways and greens were in much better shape and pace of play was reasonable. Overall a much improved experience over my round in July. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Cost friendly with tight shots.
My group enjoyed this cours, pretty well taken care of by a friendly staff. Nice fairways, a few spots needed some work. Greens were very well taken care of. Will play again.
Fairways are terrible
38.00 Not a good value. Fairways are in terrible shape. Tee boxes needed cut. Greens were decent and receptive.
Regular
I play here monthly and generally come away with a good golf experience for the money. Greens are in good shape and won't be what you're unhappy with after the round. Many holes with good character that require you to hit some golf shots. Only negative is a few fairways are under work and in need of some love; about four. Will certainly be returning in the future.
Course is in bad shape
I used to play the Orchards a lot. It had been a few years. I had fond memories of it and was looking forward to playing it again. Unfortunately it was not the experience I was hoping for. I'm not sure what it was due to but the course is in really bad shape. A majority of the fairways were closed off due to an overwhelming amount of flooding. The drainage system is not working at all. Many of my drives had to be moved even though they were right down the middle. Grass was even non existent on some of the fairways. Also, the cart paths were riddled with potholes. There were so many that it stuck out in my head the next day. This course needs to be closed until they can bring it back to life. It simply is not worth playing right now, especially at $44.00 a round (weekend). I like the people who work there and run it. For their sake I hope it corrected sooner than later.
Wet and muddy!
When I got to #3 fairway I was shocked, it was wet and muddy and continued up to hole #4.one member of the staff told me they over watered the fairways after aeration .The fairways were spotty throughout the course. 18 was really bad! The greens were good.
Soggy from the sprinklers
Several holes were nearly unplayable; the 18th was horrendous. As a matter of fact, the 18th had streams of water draining, and then the sprinklers came on...why?
Greens were excellent! Now if they can control the sprinklers properly which will allow the grass to grow in the mud-pit fairways, then I would recommend this course.
Nice greens....fairways were very rough
Greens were in good shape, which I would expect almost anywhere. The fairways were junk. There were so many bare spots and patches of grass missing, you were better off hitting into the rough. Cart paths were rough and there were no signs at each hole indicating the yardage from each tee. This info is on the scorecard but it was just odd to not have it right there when you pulled up.
Course was in poor shape
Most likely due to the weather, but the the fairways were in terrible shape
poor management
Poor management of tee times...booked too many golfers and not enough carts. I did not play course do to a backup of tee times due 2 no carts available.
Great Day, Great Round
Overall the course was in pretty good shape, a few fairways had some bad spots but overall nothing to take away from your round. The pace of play was excellent as we were the first group out and never had anyone behind us the whole round. Getting out early helped as we wrapped the course was getting crowded.
Staff was great as usual, will be going back.
Good Course - much better than recent reviews
Fun layout, some scenic, some challenging holes. Delayed playing there because of GA poor reviews, but I found the course to be much better than they made it seem. Greens in very good shapes, fairways good - far better than Quarry @ Crystal Springs, Belk Park, Mystic Oaks or Gran Marais.
My recommendation - give it a go...
Great course
The orchards was by far one of the best courses I have been on this year.
Fairways had a few rough spots, but the putting greens were in real good shape.
Nice return to this course
Hadn;t played the course in a number of years so it was nice to return. Rough was a little high but a week of heavy rain may have prevented cutting it. Very enjoyable course to play,
FIX YOUR FAIRWAYS!
I have been playing this course for several years and I have just about had it with the inconsistency of their fairways and tee boxes! The grass was not mowed so the rough was ridiculous to play from. I know they just had a league play and I would have expected the grass to have been manicured for the prices they charge! Most of the tee boxes either needed to be cut as or several were so sparse with grass it was difficult to even play from. I think there were only 2 ball washers out on the whole course yet lots of empty poles to put them and the greens are riddled with divots it makes me wonder what kind of golfers are coming out to play. Extremely disappointed and I hope they would show some pride in their club and bring it to the level their pricing dictates.
Don't do it
The fairways for the most part were horrible. If you are familiar, St Peters-esque. Just did not like the course. The setup is fairly easy, but you can't take advantage because your ball is lying in dirt on the middle of the fairway. Now I understand people who move their ball to a better place, but I would have had to move the ball 5 to 10 yards at times. That is ridiculous. I will not play there again without it either being very cheap, or someone telling me that they have repaired the fairways.
orchards
Fairways need inprovement tee boxes also need to be better Holes are fun and challenging greens are excellent
