About
Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Course was in good shape
Some of the forward tee boxes were in rough shape. Overall the course was in good shape. Lost a few more golf balls than usual Pace of play was good
A nice challenge and in great condition
It's a long drive for our group, bur we like to play this course at least once a year. Nice layout with some very challenging holes. Fairways and greens were in great condition, although the sand traps were hard and wet due to recent rain. Got a tremendous Hot Deal and finished the round in a shade over 4 hours. It was windy, but warm enough to a beer on the patio after the round.
Course condition Excellent
Played here on an October 80 degree day and the course and greens were in great condition and with no leaves on the fairways. The food in the bar was very good but they could use a few more craft beers on tap instead of the standards like coors and bud.
Greens were plugged and sanded are we weren’t told prior to arrival. Playing on that kind of greens is less enjoyable than on normal greens
Decent course but pace of play is a problem
Course condition and layout were pretty good, but the pace of play was terrible. Waiting on every tee.
Love this course!
This course is punching above its weight out in Bristol. Conditions are improving. Holes are a good mix of forgiving and challenging. Not enormously tough, which is a relief. Decent amount of sand traps and water. Plenty of protected greens, which requires approach accuracy. Looking forward to playing again. Only downsides-the freight train horn noise is a drag, and the driving range needs work (probably on the super's punch list).
Overpriced and slow pace
The course overall is in okay good shape. Tee boxes are torn up a bit, but as expected for the end of the season. They sent groups off every 5 min. As you can imagine was well over the 4.5 hour pace. Cary girl was out but stopped at 1 as well.
