About
Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Decent course but pace of play is a problem
Course condition and layout were pretty good, but the pace of play was terrible. Waiting on every tee.
Love this course!
This course is punching above its weight out in Bristol. Conditions are improving. Holes are a good mix of forgiving and challenging. Not enormously tough, which is a relief. Decent amount of sand traps and water. Plenty of protected greens, which requires approach accuracy. Looking forward to playing again. Only downsides-the freight train horn noise is a drag, and the driving range needs work (probably on the super's punch list).
Overpriced and slow pace
The course overall is in okay good shape. Tee boxes are torn up a bit, but as expected for the end of the season. They sent groups off every 5 min. As you can imagine was well over the 4.5 hour pace. Cary girl was out but stopped at 1 as well.
Slow pace of play
Five some in front of us and ranger did not speed them up….
Great Conditions
The course is in great condition, much improved over previous years. The greens were a little slow though. We played in under 4 hours on a Friday afternoon, so that's pretty good.
Pond problem
Ponds need attention and aeration - smell like raw sewage and saw snakes in them.
It took over 5 hours to play 18 holes. There was a 5 person group in front of me and a group of 6 in front of them. Took way to long
Pace of Play is awful
Played on a Friday afternoon and the Pace of Play was horrendous. No ranger and the course is a free for all. Not worth the money!
Redesign 18
18 ruins the whole course. Stupid design with ridiculous trees blocking a great green.
