Blackberry Oaks Golf Club
About
Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Great find
Clean cart. Great service. Best pace of play I’ve had in many rounds. Course was in very good shape. Some bunkers were a little hard and need a bit of work. Practice range is grass, which is nice but most of the grass was gone from too frequent use. New to the area and will play again. Wish the membership wasn’t so $$$ compared to the daily rate. No real incentive as there really aren’t many amenities other than early booking and short game area.
The course is great, but…
Played this course for the second time the other day. Me and two friends of mine were playing a scramble. An hour and 50 minutes in, the course marshall approached us on the 8th green and heckled us about pace of play (we had been stuck behind two slower groups the entire front 9). We finished up the front and stopped at the clubhouse to use the restroom and grab some beverages, but also to give the group behind us time to play through since they seemed so eager to get around us. When we got out the group behind us was still on the 9th green, so we headed to 10. As we approached our 2nd shot in the fairway a man from the group behind us raced up to us and started harassing us about pace of play and claimed that he works at the course as well and that they’ve been “stuck” behind us all day. Keep in mind that we finished the front in 2 hours, we had been waiting on slower groups at almost every hole, and we deliberately tried to give them time to play through at the turn.
I’m all for keeping pace, but the staff crying about a 2 hour front 9 and heckling guests about that pace while they’re trying to play is ridiculous. Don’t think I’ll be coming back any time soon.
Fantastic Course
This has to be my favorite local courses and it did not disappoint. Course was in great shape, everyone was super friendly and the food at the grill was delicious.
I'll be back again soon!
Fun course with some difficult shots.
Being from Tucson I really enjoyed playing a course out in Illinois, especially one that had some great holes like blackberry oaks.
I enjoyed my round and the staff was friendly. The clubhouse and restaurant was great too.
I’ll be back next time I’m visiting the area.
nicely maintained golf course
played on a sunday late morning , pace of play was very good for a sunday . most courses in my area or having difficulty keeping up with the draught conditions we are experiencing but Blackberry Oaks was in really nice shape and grens ran true
Nice golf course
The golf course was well maintained even after a heavy rain the night before, although the sand traps were a little "rocky" more than sand. It was on the expensive side compared to other golf courses in the area. But a very nice course to play.
Course conditions
Overall the course was in good shape. Downfall like a lot of golf courses is the sand traps need attention. More sand, some of the traps the plastic liner was sticking up thru the sand.
