About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

Golfer Reviews
Quality has waned over the years
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this round was disappointing enough that I felt compelled to share.
I teed off at 11:50 a.m. on a beautiful autumn Friday. Despite no rain that day, the course was saturated, with squishy ground and muddy tire tracks throughout.
The bigger issue was the pace of play—the worst I’ve experienced in four years of golfing. We regularly encountered backups of two to three groups. We were constantly waiting to hit while the group behind us waited closely behind, making it impossible to settle into any rhythm.
I had nowhere else to be and was happy to enjoy the weather, but I finally gave up after 13 holes. Driving back past holes 14–18, I saw the same backups throughout the remaining holes.
A beautiful day to play, unfortunately overshadowed by saturated conditions and an exceptionally slow round.
Balanced
The course was in great condition even though a few days before there had been down pours of rain. Overall the greens where challenging with the undulations and course management comes into play off the tee as the layout has bunkers places or narrowing fairways.
Some water in contention but mostly people’s houses line the course as long as your miss isn’t wildly left or right you’ll still knock it around and have opportunities to score
One of my favorites
I’ve come to really love playing this course. Played once last year and twice this year. Fantastic shape, great layout. Lots of challenging risk/reward holes and the staff has been awesome every time.
I know it’s later in the season, but this course really seem to be run down
This is my third time playing this course this season. The first two times I really enjoyed it. Me and my buddies loved the conditions. but this last time I was shocked on how the conditions were. Pace of play was pretty terrible it wasn’t terrible for $75. but definitely nowhere near the conditions it was playing in the summer.
great challenge,
position golf, try to hit to areas that give best shot to large undulating greens
Great course
I really enjoyed playing the course. Great design with hazards strategically placed to mess with your head. Fairway, rough and green in great condition. Staff was great and impressed with ranger out keeping pace moving swiftly. One thing I wish they did but not huge deal. They have no club washer by the driving range so either start round with dirty clubs or start round with a dirty towel. Otherwise, it was a great place and look forward to coming back.
Great track
Pace of play was great for a Sat afternoon didn’t see the group in front of us or behind us for almost the entire round. Can’t beat that
A Very Nice Public Course - If only the public would take better care of it!
A very nice public course. As the subject mentions, I wish the public respected it more and made it easier on their great grounds crew who have to bring it back to life daily. People. Replace your divots Fix your ball marks!
Lots of fairway bunkers on this course that will only get better with each play. We will be back.
Quality has gone down
I had not played White Deer Run for several years becauise it had gotten so expensive. I tried it again because I got a hot deal for $60. This is a $60 course, not the $90 they normally charge. The amenities have gone way downhill over the last few years. Also, with all the sand they have on this course, they need to maintain it better. I could not get under the ball because the sand was like concrete.
White deer run
Course is good, too many notifications while riding the cart. Even if nobody is in the back still keeps getting messages that keep up the pace. Accidentally I enter parking lot with cart I got disabled and nobody to help. I had to switch the cart. The cart path is miserable to drive as broken and debris and big pot holes. They should fix it as golfers are paying. Customer service not good
Will Be Back
Lived in Libertyville for 3 years and this was my first time playing here. I’ll definitely be back. Was lucky to get a single tee time day-of on a beautiful Saturday. Pace of play was the worst part (5 hr round). Course was in great shape and I enjoyed some of the fun nuances of the layout.
Cart paths and carts need an upgrade
This is a fun course and its always in decent shape but its not walkable and cart path only conditions after heavy rain highlighted some serious issue. There were a ridiculous number of pot holes and the carts had no shock absorption whatsoever. I would not play this course again unless they pave the paths.
