Far Oaks Golf Club
About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

Course is in great condition
Took an out of town guest who has a home in Pinehurst, NC...he was very impressed with the course and it's condition.
A fun course for a hacker like me. Wide fairways but deep rough. Convenient.
Had a fun time as a threesome on a slow round on the 4th of July, a busy day at the course. Well maintained and managed. The tees, fairways, and greens were in great shape. Has both links type holes and tree-lined fairways on other holes. The rough is very deep. Keep the ball in the wide fairways. The clubhouse was clean and comfortable, but the bar maid was slow and needed help for the number of customers. Convenient to St. Louis City and County.
best bang for the buck.
love the fairways and the greens roll nice,if folks would just repair their divots on the greens it would be top notch.
Good course to play
Course was in great shape, the greens rolled pretty good, good to see them eliminating some of the sand traps on the course.
nice course, excellent layout, close to STL
we played this course recently and is was really nice. it had rained that morning so the course was wide open. it is kind of short for longer players but it requires lots of shot making.
I had a great time.
I loved th fairways and greens. However the bunkers need a lot of tender love and care. Fix them wih new drains and sand, and it will be the fabulous coarse it once was.
Great course, beautiful!
Fun & challenging! Staff always friendly! Always kept up well even after all this rain. Don't like all the old bunkers that were filled in but still a great course to play!
Great Value
Booked the course for $25 for an 8:03 tee time on a Monday. I would play this course everyday for that price. My only concern is they are taking out many bunkers that are strategic to the course. This should speed up play, have less maintenance, but diminish the courses design/original intent.
Very nice course. Especially like the back nine.
Played Fathers Day June 16, 2013 with my two sons and grandson. Had 3:06 T Time. Course wasn't crowded at all. Think we were the only foursome. Being a senior citizen with medical issues, I sure didn't appreciate cart paths only, no water in coolers on the front nine and no beverage cart. They had even closed the grill early so we were unable to buy a $5.00 Hot Dog. For what I thought was an upper class course , I was extremely unhappy having chosen to play there on Fathers Day.
Great Track!
Tees and fairways were immaculate. Greens would be great but come on fellow golfers, help everyone out and everyone help out and fix some divots. The greens are really good but way too many unattended to divots. While many bunkers are being removed the ones that remain need some attention. Good pace of play and overall a very good golf course. First hole should be a par 4.
great course, great condition.....tees, fairway & greens......
great value, personnel concerned & friendly....will be back....
Nice surprise.
Good course in great condition. Staff could not have been more accommodating. Its a bit of a drive for me but I look forward to enjoying it again soon.
nice course difficult to play in windy conditions
enjoyed course some of greens were not in greatest shape
First time playing Far Oaks
I liked having 5 par fives since fairway woods are my strength. Had a good time even though my tee time was moved back 30-45 min and we had to wait to hit on every hole. Thought the greens were in good shape, and were putting true. It was my first time playing Far Oaks. The ranger/starter was very friendly.
Great shape, but poor service
The course was beautiful & well maintained. Our cart was dying on the front 9. We tried to trade for a fresh one a the turn, but they were out of carts. It died completely on 12 & we used the GPS signal to tell the golf shop, but they didn't bring us a fresh one until we had walked the next 5 holes.
Always one of my favorites
The staff needs to make sure there is more water in the coolers on the course. This has always been an issue and should be corrected.
Our tee time was delayed by 30 minutes, for which there is little excuse considering the weather was perfect.
Despite these comments I still enjoy the course.
Wet!
I forgot about the rain the night before, I didn't realize we got so much. Far Oaks is by far my most favorite course to play. Very long and challenging from the tips. I spoke with one of the maintenance personnel prior to leaving. The greens are beautiful and the roll is true. However, Far Oaks gets plenty of play by players that don't appreciate a quality course. Far too many players are not repairing their ball marks on the green. Understandably, the greens keepers don't have the time to repair ball marks prior to cutting so we are left with brown spots due to scalping.
MUST play!
This is one of the MUST PLAY courses in the St. Louis and surrounding area. The greens and fairways are perfect! One of the best back nine's I play. During the drought of 2012 we looked at the course conditions and all we could say is "what drought"? Great clubhouse to relax in after the round. Good food and a gorgeous view of holes nine and eighteen from the deck.
SUPER SLOW PLAY
Pro shop obviously overbooked the course. Play was unbelievably slow. Far Oaks is famous for slow play and stacked tee times. I will never go back. The last 3 times I played there I had to quit and get a rain check. What a waste of money. I guess its true what they say. You get what you pay for.
Beautiful course - needs some good weather
Far Oaks is a wonderful design and great layout. Played for the first time in late April. Course was very wet and clearly a couple of weeks behind the growing schedule due to the horrendous weather. Give this course a little good weather and a couple of weeks and it will be in great shape. Lots of variety and gorgeous holes - certainly recommend Far Oaks.
