Far Oaks Golf Club
About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

Amazing condition for this time of the year.
The course is in outstanding shape, especially for early October. The bent-grass fairways were in perfect condition, the lay-out is challenging & I can't wait to play it again. Especially more often next year.
Great views and played well
Some of the views are pretty amazing at this course. The course played very fast (which I really like) but that may have been due to the weather (it was cloudy and rained on us a couple of times but nothing major). The only minor issue is that the greens could use some work. They were a little beat up and didn't roll very true because of this.
Lots of picturesque views and excellently maintain
Good value, almost nobody else on the course on a Wednesday early morning. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Lots of variety on this course.
This course has it all, long par 5s, par 4s you have to lay up with an iron to a par 3 where the tee box is set up on the other side of a creek and drops down to a huge green that can be exceedingly challenging depending on the cup placement.
very nice course
The course is very nice very well kept. The pace of play was good considering the amount of people that where out playing.
Bang for buck
Booked at a good rate and early tee time. This works well because I cant stand slow play. The course was in good shape.
My new favorite course!
From tee to green in great shape. There are some greens that are freckled with divot marks. The fairways were PERFECT! Spongy, dense grass and the ball always stands high. Challenging for all levels. I liked it better than Annbriar and that's saying something. Best public course on the Illinois side of the river in St Louis area.
One of St. Louis' best
Far Oaks is one of my favorite public courses in St. Louis, with tee boxes of different levels of difficulty. Each hole is different, and most have a lot of "character" in their make-up. With 2 of the four Par 5s reachable in two for most golfers, yet punishing with a ravine and water it you make a mistake, it gives the average golfer hopes to have an eagle putt. The elevated tee box on #16 par 3 is a fun one to hit and watch as it travels on the green. The "Pro Tips" on the GPS are very effective.
Beautiful Fairways
Excellent conditions. Course in very good shape. Pace of play was good.
Course is well manicured.
The course is a nice course to play. Well kept and grounds are manicured. Easy to get to.
The course was in great shape - good value for the money.
The course was in great shape and had an good round. We were a threesome and added a fourth at course. Pace of play was great as the course was not crowded - finished in just over four hours.
Very good value but...
The GolfNow rate is hard to beat for the quality of this course. The turf and greens are in great shape and it has a really nice layout. Our complaint is that the clubhouse virtually shut down at 5:30 when our cart ran out of juice. And despite the 94-degree temps, there was not a drop of water in the four coolers on the course. They are saving money not keeping people working, but it sure takes away from the enjoyment of the experience.
Excellent. Well maintained.
It's been awhile since I have played Far Oaks. I forgot how nice this course is! I will definitely be back.
Great Course
Had a great time playing Far Oaks on August 22. The only down side was having to play behind the back end of an extremely slow senior scramble during the front 9. Fairways were in great shape, but the greens were a bit on the beat up side. I would definitely play this course again...but only with a discounted rate through golf now :)
Great day for golf on a great course.
The staff is always helpful at this course, it's always a pleasure to come here and play. The course has always been in great shape when I have played it. The fairways are in great shape now the ball sets up very nicely. The greens are what surprised me for this late in the season there look great my compliments to the grounds crew for their work. It takes me an hour to get to the course from home and with the construction going on between here and the course it's nice to k.ow that trip is worth it.
Thanks Far Oaks for a great day on the links.
Beautiful setting, great staff.
We had perfect weather and the course was in great shape. The normal price is a little high, but I was able to get a good deal. I really loved the layout and good shots were rewarded.
