Boring
The course has no sand, practically no water, and besides the tree line on a handful of holes, no way to lose a ball. It's very dangerous standing on the tee boxes and had MANY balls fly by our group. Every tee box is a tee matt. Hate driving off tee matts. Only saving grace of the course are the greens. They were in great condition. Everything else was barely worth the $25 we paid. No drink girl, no halfway house. Not recommended unless no where else to go.
Not a real golf course
This is a poor attempt for a 'golf course'. It is scattered with holes for footgolf, frisbee golf and no real tee boxes. There are mats to hit off of, half of which don't allow a tee for use with a driver. There is almost no flat area around the 'tee boxes' to allow you to tee up on the side and hit from there.
The only good thing about the course was the greens were in pretty good shape, real slow, but not torn up.
We apologize that your experience was not as enjoyable as you expected while you were at Edgebrook. We do our best to communicate with guests about our unique Footgolf and disc golf course layout. Due to our course infrastructure, we have mats in place on some tee boxes to combat certain course conditions. We are happy to hear the greens were in good shape for your round, as our agronomic team worked hard over the winter to ensure their condition for this season. We hope you will come back to play again soon!
Great greens, terrible tee boxes
Course was good Except the tee boxes and area around the boxes were the worst I have seen. Bare soil spots nearly at each box. Some worse than others.
Course conditions
This was the first time that I had played at this course. I guess that they had some water issues on this course in the past few months. Some of the fairways need some TLC. But it is a nice course for the money.
flooded
The course is what ya pay for. Some holes still under water and very damp where all the Fairways are being torn up
Great beginner's course / relaxed atmosphere
Very easy course with wide fairways and no bunkers or water hazards. Great for beginners or intermediate golfers that want a frustration-free day. Had a great time and staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend.
Friendly staff but teeing from matts???
First time I played the course. Staff was super friendly. Course was in good condition considering the amount of rain we recently got. Short but challenging enough. We were out early so we played under 3 hours which was good. But teeing from matts is not fun at all. I would nonetheless return if the price is right.
Bad course
Horrible when you have to tee off from range mats and the "fairway" is all dirt not even worth the cheap price
good local course
The staff is very friendly. Course is never that busy. Great value for price. Course needs some work after heavy rains.
Edgebrook
wow, rain , lightning to start, very wet fairways from heavy rain(which it has been every second day, heavy). but this is a strait, mostly level course. No sandtraps. A course set up for new or players coming back to the game 13th and 14th hole are a challenge due to terrain. the Chicago river, woods and a steep ravine come into play on these holes.
Heavy woods come into play on a number of holes.
Easy, confidence building course
Short, easy course. The greens are in good shape, but that's about it. Challenging par 3s, short par 4s, no par 5s. Leave the driver in the bag and practice your mid-iron game.
Greens outstanding condition
I booked on GolfNow. I was not told that they had an outing that day and we would not be able to get a gas cart. I have a bad knees and cannot walk long distances usually. The greens were he best I have played this year. If they got rid of the tee mats, it would do a lot for the course.
Course has gone down hill
I had not played this course in over 20 years and it was in poor condition back then. It was hard to belive that it was worse. I will say the greens were in great shape and the restroom was clean but the rest of the course is in very bad shape. You still hit off mats and the fairways were not cut. I won't be back there anytime soon.
Dog Track
While $25/person with a cart is a pretty good deal, I found this course quite ridiculous. The fairways were really bad and a few of the holes are just lame...an 80 yard par 3 straight up a hill? On a positive note the greens were very well maintained and there was almost nobody on the course so we moved through pretty quick.
Great staff but the course could use a little love!
Great course and overall I really like it compared to the other forest preserve golf. I've visited several of these courses but do have to say that I will never again be playing at billy Caldwell. The staff was extremely rude and not the least bit welcoming.
18 hole course, cheap price.
The course wasn't in good shape in terms of the fairways, however the greens were kept in great condition. If your looking for a quick 18 at a reasonable price this is the place.
This course was poorly maintained
I would like to start with finding the place was rather difficult because of the size of the sign they have on Central to help you locate the course. When arriving to this course I came to see that the course had two options to tee off from. You could either hit from the white markers and be in a straight patch of dirt where there was no grass or you could tee off from little mats which gave you that driving range feel. The course is poorly designed and was at times hard to figure out which way to go to find the next hole. After the 9th hole you think the course would circle back to the clubhouse for "the turn", but that wasn't the case, there was no place to purchase snacks or beverages while on the course. I will probably never go back to this course and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I was very surprised as I have golfed other forest preserve parks and haven't seen any this poor. I hope this is not what the other will be like in the future.
Pay $20 more and go to a real golf course
Too short, fake mats for tee boxes, poorly maintained. Doubles as a disc golf course, if that gives you a measure of the quality.
Great place to golf 18 under 3hrs usually
course has some interesting, fun holes, some water but no sand traps also still has cement tee boxes with mats or semi grass tees in front which makes course even shorter. I like it because you can golf 18 hole in 2hrs 45min usually
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear certain course conditions affected your round at Edgebrook. Due to certain environmental factors and infrastructure limitations, we do have to have mats in certain places so our agronomic team has a chance to address certain course conditions. We understand this is not ideal and are constantly working on making improvements. Our goal is to make sure each guest has a fun and enjoyable golfing experience and we hope you will return so we have the opportunity to show you how great Edgebrook can be!
