I don't play Tuckaway enough
I play a lot of golf on different courses, but not too much on Tuckaway. I will be playing more in the future.
The conditions were far better that I expected, we have had a ton of rain in the area. Looks like they have been putting some subtle changes, but was struggling to put my finger on it.
This course is not too long, but the size and shape of greens will challenge. I definitely need to work on chipping around the greens!
I enjoyed it and will be back
Fairways need work
Overall, the course was in good shape, but some of the fairways had large areas of torn up turf.
tuck away GC
Many tee boxes were in horrible shape, rough very high and difficult to find balls. I’ve played here many tines over the years and see a decline in the overall appearance of the GC.
Worn down
Everything is below average about this course but green fees are pretty cheap. Roughs are ridiculously long and greens need some upkeeping.
A hot day
The day was hot but the play was good. There was some spots wet. Over all the course was good.
Well maintained
Course was in great shape (with exception to a few tee boxes). The greens were in excellent shape and rolled fair and true. In the past I found the greens hard to hold on approach shots, but that was not the case today. We have had a lot of rain lately, so that may be more of a factor than maintenance? The rough was really thick and offered added difficulty to errant shots...as it should. The fairways, while not bent grass, played pretty well and were in good condition. The sand traps, while not many of them, were in superb shape. Given the cost, pace of play, and the condition of the course, it was an excellent value and I will be back.
Cut the grass
This course was ridiculous if you didn't hit the Fairway. The rough was so thick and high you would lose your ball immediately. On some holes there was literally no difference in grass height from the fairway to the rough. It was all ROUGH. You shouldn't have to waste 5 minutes every time searching for your ball if it goes even 5 yards into the rough. This is not the Open Championship here. Also on the Par 3's if you didn't land short and have them run up you were screwed. I could see my ball land on the green only to find out I was 10 yards past the hole because the greens were concrete and the ball bounced off them. I will never play here again even for the measly 13 dollar fee. I lost that much in balls that were buried in the dumb rough.
Never Again
It was Sunday morning & busy. The starter was getting behind right away in the morning. Letting out a 5 some didn't help. I didn't see anybody cutting greens until about 8-8:30am. Then he was jumping all over the course. The greens were long, slow, bumpy. (usually start cutting on hole one) He must of over slept. The bar girls were very good & hustled when ever I saw them. But the attire was interesting, one looked like she just got up & drove to the bar. (the outfit or underwear was crazy)
I thought I should have brought a weed whacker in the golf cart with me.
I gave it moderate for diffuculty because it was so hard to putt. Some interesting holes but the condition has gone way down from 8 years ago.
Needs tlc
Greens were spongy, bumpy, extremely slow and lots of bare spots. Tee areas weedy, with lots of bare spots. No sand in bunkers, mostly hard dirt. Used to be much better but really needs work. Wish they would make some much needed improvements.
TUCKAWAY
POOR GREENS, HIGH ROUGH FOR A PUBLIC COURSE AND TAKES LONG TIME FINDING BALLS. SAND TRAPS ARE BASICLY DIRT......WOULD NEVER GO BACK.
Fairly easy course. Tough to find the ball in rough(lots of dandelions) otherwise nice course for the money. Friendly staff.
A mess
Dandelions everywhere including fairways, asked why and the staff told me that the only working mowers were at their other course. Rough was also 4-5” deep. Lose balls a foot off “fairway”.
