12some
Decent course, terrible course management. At one point we had 3, 4 somes at one hole. 20 min wait per hole. Hopefully they are not usually like this.
Best value
For $20.00 this is by far the best bang for the buck Hadn't played here in a few years but was in same great condition as in the past. Small fast greens in prime condition
needs work
Course was in better shape than earlier in the year, but still needs a lot of work. Greens were very slow & bumpy, tee boxes very weedy & even some bare spots, some bunkers are more dirt traps than sand traps. Layout is not bad, but course could be so much better.
Improving course
This course has always been a challenge, whether it is in good condition or bad. Lately, it's in better shape. The greens are small, and the fairway ground is hard. Pace of play is usually good. Staff is friendly.
Very Nice set up...
The course was in good shape. The ground was a little hard but I need all the roll I can get. Staff was very friendly. I will be back to play this course again.
Greener Fairways Else Where
Tuckaway review August 15 ,2017
Your money is better spent else where ! Needed a jack hammer to set in a tee !!!
They say fairways are watered ??? Not so sure about that . A tee off lofted drive
upon landing will bound 20 /30 in the air because of dry fairway conditions .
The rough seems to be left long because of lack of watering . This results in
"pain staking slow play " due to trying to locate your ball. You will Not be taking
divots on this course .
Greens ok but all are small and crowned . Difficult to hold your approach shots
Green fees are reasonable . Here you get to play on rock hard ground .
The old saying “you get what you pay for “ fits .
Given a choice ,There are many better courses nearby one can play
Better than last time
Compared to my last visit a few years ago, the course was in better shape. The biggest problem last time was fairways overrun with dandelions and weeds. This has been taken care of. Decent fairways now allowed the fairly nice layout of the course to be better appreciated. Greens were OK - just a little bumpy in spots but not bad at all for putting. However, almost anything landing just off the green takes a crazy bounce because of the almost universal false fronts/raised greens. You pay a big penalty for just a slightly pulled or pushed short iron shot. Overall, it's a deceptively tricky course, and tough to stick it on the greens. Requires great distance and direction accuracy. Suggestion: The course could benefit from having a true "senior" tee box, especially on the par 5's. The way the boxes were marked, the senior tees were playing up near the forward tees, making the par 5's way too short to be a true test of skill (at least one under 400 yds!) One would think this makes for increased birdie opportunities, but seemed to end up leaving too many weird and short or half-club distances that require a more deft and nimble touch than the normal retiree and once-a-week golfer possesses.
Very good course.
Played late morning on a Sunday, pace of play was fine, course is well kept, senior tees were fair.
Front 9 is a better layout than the back 9. Most greens are raised and require increased accuracy.
Plenty of elevation changes, very fun and challenging course.
Fun track to play. I really enjoyed the hills and dog-leg holes. Doesn't seem like gets ton of play so pace was awesome
It was OK for the price!
Since we weren't in golf shape just yet, we decided to start out playing a simple goat ranch before moving up to the more challenging local courses. Tuckaway didn't disappoint. Greens were like concrete with some burnt out patches already. tons of dead trees still up and not attended to. overall course condition was 6 out of 10. I've never been a fan of this track, but it was fine for $22, but it's strictly a once a year course to play.
Looking much better!!
They've done a lot in a month here. Greens improving. Grass cut much better. Still not perfect. But much better, but well worth the price!! Pace is usually a bit slow. But it beats working any day!! I will be back
Good value for the money
Tuckaway is hidden gem, with changing elevations. Although the course could use a bit of maintenence, the greens fees can make you overlook some of its short comings. My favorite hole is #17, with a fairrway that is pitched toward the water, followed by a dogleg around the water. Nice course.
I love this course.
This course is great for moderate players. I enjoy taking my clients to this course and they seem to really enjoy it as well. It is pretty open, but there are several areas to lose your ball. There are a lot of trees on this course....my ball has found many of them.
Great Course - Give it a shot!!!!
Great course for the price! Don't let negative reviews discourage you. An absolute south suburban hidden gem. Pace of play was what should be expected at 1130 on a Saturday but it moved rather quickly. Challenging greens are a plus, may need some maintenance but overall great. Friendly staff...
Stay Away
i have been playing this course for years. Went out Saturday 5/13/17 and it was like a free for all. Fivesomes , no rangers to move things along, 5+ hour round. And as far as the course goes, you couldn't tell the rough from the fairway. Weeds everywhere and i mean everywhere. I don't know if its the same owners but it never looked as bad as it did that day. Don't think i will go back.
