About
Stonewolf Golf Club is one of only four courses designed by Jack Nicklaus in Illinois and Missouri and it is also one of his only public access designs. Nicklaus created a shotmaker's layout with a variety of different holes. He also incorporated his signature style of bunkering, which you'll remember for their shape, design, and placement. This is not a golf course where you'll be able to just grip it and rip it. Thoughtful strategy and careful club selection off the tees are essential for doing well. Stonewolf Golf Club opens with a tough trio of holes, ending with a short par 4 that requires a forced carry to a severe green that features a tricky elevation change right in the middle of the surface. There is also a lateral hazard on the left, and five bunkers bordering the right side.

Golfer Reviews
Great Course
Absolutely no complaints here. Challenging but fun, great conditions, if you get on for $30-40 I think the value is one of the best around. Top course in the STL Metro area in my opinion. Highly recommend playing here when you get a chance!
Landscaping crew etiquette
The landscaping crew were in my swings all day, looking at me like I was in their way while trying to play a round I paid for. I won't be back.
Stonewolf
Course layout was good, pace of play was decent, wasn’t waiting too much in between, bunkers were in real bad shape. New sand in some bunkers but a lot were ignored which made hitting out like hitting of clay or cement.
Beautiful course in great shape.
This course is in great shape. Greens roll fast and are soft enough to spin the ball. Easily the best public course in the metro east for the price.
Slow play and no marshals
There were no marshals on this course so pace of play was not good. My son and I played and it took a little over 5 hours, had to wait on every shot. People throwing down 2-3 balls, hitting extra balls constantly. I can’t recommend anyone to play a 5+ hour round of golf.
Great Bang for your buck
Had an early tee time. Pace of play was excellent and course was in pretty good condition except for a few bunkers. Will play again!
Undulations and Elevations
This is an interesting Jack Nicklaus design that gives several risk vs. reward opportunities on most holes. I enjoyed the greens which had undulations, swales, and were protected by large bunkers. I had to always be aware of the slopes on some of the fairways when launching my drives. The staff was very friendly, and the course is a must play for the St. Louis region.
One of the best...
One of the top courses in the greater St. Louis area. Tough course.
