Terrific day
Great experience. Started on time. Good pace of play. Course in very good shape. Pleasing and fair layout with trees, water, and many sand traps, which were surprisingly firm.
Course was in nice shape. A couple greens on the West course were a little beat up, but aside from that, the course was in solid shape. Really enjoyed the layout and playability as a first time around.
Pace was the only negative. As a twosome teeing off at 1pm, we figured the pace wouldn't be fast. The front 9 was fine (~2hrs) but as we moved to the back (North) there was a foursome holding up the rest of us with seemingly no urgency or knowledge of their position. They were tracking for about a 3 hr 9-holes. We skipped a couple holes to hop ahead of them, which saved us about 45mins-1hr. That was a little disappointing since it was the first time out.
Again, course was a nice layout and in good shape, just felt the pace of play could have been managed better with a few rangers on the back (saw plenty of rangers on the front).
Different nines
North/East layout was challenging, but fair. North course was excellent. The rough on the East course needs work. Lots of coarse grass and rough spots. Fairways and greens were fine. Great play for the Golf Now price.
on going work
The north course was in great shape greens very good. East is undergoing sand trap repair and dandy -lion weed kill off in the rough. The price was right for the ongoing work on east. I love this course, 5 tee stations make it as long as u want. Very challenging green/ trap layout.
Back Again - great design, great condition, better people!!
I played Otter again for the second week in a row. I just want to say this place is GOLF!! When I arrived the pro Chad introduced himself to me and thanked me for coming back again, we spoke for a while. I really appreciate the personal touch, tee times were a little backed up due to frost. So sitting on the first tee, the starter recognized me and we had more great golf conversation. Most places only care about money and getting you on and off the course, this place is engaging and as a millennial that's something most courses are missing. Cudos to Chad and the entire staff at Otter, this course is over an hour and a half from my house and my club where I can play any day for free and I will be back several times this summer!! Well worth the drive
Traditional golf at its finest
Otter Creek was one of the last public courses in Indiana I had not played. I live in Carmel so it's a little far compared to most of the top courses. I can't believe I've been missing out on this Gem the past several years since I moved to Indiana. Trent Jones SR built one of the best traditional courses I have ever seen. Fairway bunkers in play off the tee and green side bunkers on every hole with just enough water. Most complaints are probably how challenging the course is cause the conditions in March are better than many in mid season. Fairways and tee boxes were immaculate tee boxes completely flat like a PGA event and the green speed was fantastic and consistent. LOVED IT booke a tee time for next Saturday already, it's worth the drive.
A Great day of Golf
The Course was in great shape considering the time of the year. And at the Golf Now price well worht it.
somewhat disappointed
You'd expect a round here to be great, but the original back nine was closed and the new nine, the east, had little sand in the bunkers and since it was march, the greens as you'd expect were pretty bumpy.
Nevertheless, at this price you can't beat it. The greens will challenge even the very best putters, its RT Jones afterall.
Beautiful course
Been wanting to play this course for a long time and decided to on a drive to Florida. It's fall so there was no waiting to tee off. This is a great design with tree lined fairways. Only disappointment was many of the greens were damaged by I am guessing high heat and humidity from the summer, they were very rough and spotty. Some greens had newly laid sod to repair them. Still the putting was not much effected and for late fall golf a great day. If your in the Columbus area Otter Creek is worth the stop.
Not up to normal standards
This is one of my favorite courses even though it is over an hour drive from home.
I am normally very happy with the condition of this course, but yesterday I was very disappointed with condition of many of the greens and tee boxes. I am not sure what has happened but several of the greens were terrible and many of them were just bad. I hope they get it back to the shape we have come to expect from this course.
Worth the drive...
I took a chance and booked a solo tee time at Otter Creek, when I arrived the staff greeted me with friendly smiles and kind words. My tee time was booked through golfnow for 10:09am. Upon my arrival the pro shop attendant suggested I go talk to the starter. After a warm up bucket of balls and a freindly conversation with the starter, I was paired up with a father/son two-some and tee'd off at 9:44am. The pair couldn't have been nicer, being my first time around the course they shared local knowledge and escorted me around this Robert Trent Jones course like I was a VIP. The course itself was great, true rolling greens with plenty of evaluation changes, a nice mix of straight forward and strategic golf holes. If you live Indianapolis and are tired of playing the same courses, I suggest getting the guys together and taking a ride to Columbus, IN. You won't be disappointed!
Wonderful course
Otter Creek was in great shape. We checked in easily. The Pro was extremely nice. We hit range balls, then went to the first tee. We played in 3 hours and there were 3 of us. Fairways, greens, and ruff were immaculate. I would go back soon.
Nice course
Enjoyed the course. In good shape for this time of year. Only problem was mowing crew followed us for most of the front 9. Slowed us down a bit and was a bit irritating. Overall good experience. Would play again for sure.
One of Indiana's nicest courses
What a wonderful course, top 5 in Indiana. If you want to play a pro grade course, this is a must play. Course is immaculate, with undulating greens, with the greens being well bunkered. The course is challenging, but fair for all golfrs, with several tee options. Played in the fall and the grounds crew does a wonderful job of leaf removal. Staff was very friendly. Nice practice area with chipping and sand trap green and the usual putting green. This is a premier course that I try to play at least once a year, and with a hot deal special on Golf Now, I got it for $25. Great deal.
Well laid out!
Beautiful golf course! Very well maintained. Bunkers, greens and fairways are the best I've played in sometime. Very courteous and accommodating staff. Highly recommend!
Relaxing round
My husband has played this course several times, but it was my first time. I liked that there weren't too many hazards and the fairways fairly wide. The North course seemed to be in better shape than the West course, but both courses' greens were good. Being in the middle of the week towards the end of the golf season, we practically had the course to ourselves, especially after letting a single player go through at the beginning of the West Course.
We grabbed turkey/Swiss sandwiches to go at the turn which had an abundant amount of turkey. If in the area again, we would play here.
