Bargain hunter
They need more bargains. I play courses when they put out a bargain. This courses rarely publishes any bargain rates.
A great traditonal golf course, fun to play
Otter Creek is one of my favorites to play in Indiana. Very straightforward, challenging, well-designed which has served as the venue for many state amateur championships - and I can see why! The North-West combo is great and especially the West nine which has three or four outstanding par fours. Highly recommend it, course was in great shape.
An elite course, but...
Course is in excellent condition and it was a beautiful day. However, our back nine pace was horrible. A fivesome group was allowed in on the back nine, and their pace was extremely slow. An elite course like otter creek where fivesomes are not allowed should stick to their rules on a busy day. The rangers did nothing about it.
Play if you can
Great course. Always a must for the each summer. Course was in pristine shape and we played the front in 1.5 and the back in just over 2 hours.
GREAT COURSE FOR AN ENJOYABLE DAY
COURSE HAS A LOT OF INTEREST IN LAYOUT. CAN'T REALLY AFORD TO GO TO SLEEP. OME OF MY FAVORITES IF NOT MY ONLY FAVORITE IN CENTRAL INDIANA.
otter play here more often !
the course was very well maintainedand the staff was very niceI thought the course would be more intimidating but the fairways were real wide and the only thing that stood up my game was the well guarded greens by bunkers at every hole
Great course, wish it were private!
Otter Creek is a wonderful RTJ, Sr. layout. The course is beautiful, marred only by the public play which leaves it's greens marked up and divots all over in the fairways. It played brutally slow for us and watching the foursome ahead of us slice, top, chunk and miss led to some aggravation wile watching them hole out every putt. I definitely think this course ranks high in terms of places to play in Southern Indiana. It's well worth at least ne visit. Hopefully, you catch a day when the tee sheet isn't full!
The course design is interesting, although I prefer the North and East (Rees Jones design) and the greens are severely undulating. If this was a private course, it would be magnificent.
Otter
Great course, great shape. Columbus is a great area also.
Great Condition!
Had the first tee time West/East. Finished inside of three hours. Course was in perfect condition. The greens are tough, a two-putt is a victory!
Hidden gem in southern Indiana
Let's get one thing straight: This is a fantastic golf course.
My day started with a short warm up on the range. The range was in great condition with numerous targets to aim for. The putting green was well manicured and had space for several people to comfortably putt at the same time.
I was originally paired with two other players, but they were running late so I played single. The other golfers were curtious and allowed me to play through, and I was finished with my round in just over 3 hours.
The course itself offered many challenges. Doglegs, sand, water, trees, hills, etc. Every hole was unique. The course offers 5 tee boxes, I went for the blue tees (3rd out of 5). As a 15 handicap, I found this tee placement to be fair. Some of the holes offered scoring opportunities while others were very tough to par.
The greens were in excellent condition. The ball rolled smooth over the undulating greens. I did think they were a little bit slow, but that will probably change later in the summer.
The facilities were not overwhelmingly impressive, and it is clear that the money primarily goes back into the course (not necessarily a bad thing).
If you are in the area or willing to make a drive from Indianapolis, I would highly recomend this course.
Could be even "sandier"
Nice track - great greens and interesting to play. Lots and lots of bunkers - however Fairway bunkers need sand. A little on the high side for price if you pay full green fees - given the location and the competition.
Was a great day
It was a great day very nice people that the course paired me up with and I will be back to play it again. Theprice was great the the staff was so nice I had to tell the pro . before Ieft what a great course and staff he has.
Love this course
Course is challenging yet friendly, a beautiful golf course tucked away in Indiana. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely intend to play there again.
This course is a great design
Otter Creek is one of my favorite courses in Indiana. The original 18 is a classic Robert Trent Jones, Sr design and is certainly worthy of play. It offers a variety of challenges on beautiful rolling terrain.
Great design
One of my favorite designs. They lost about 250 trees. Mostly pines so it looks very different. No as beautiful but still the challenging design it has been. We had a great time.
North/West
Always a pleasure to play, one of my all time favorites. Got to course early, pro shop and starter allowed us to go off early. Course was in good condition considering the snow and rain we had received. Rough had yet to be cut so there was some difficulty finding balls in high grass. Greens very good shape. Played a a great pace until the final 4-5 holes as we caught some foursomes that seemed to be playing very slow, still finished in around 4 hours.
Challeging course
Played the North/West courses. Both in pretty great shape except for several unfixed ball marks on the greens. Many tees to chose from. Played the whites, for a 20 handicap, it was all the challenge I needed. Nice designs with dog legs where you have to manage the course.
Amazing Leisurely Round
I usually don't write "amazing" about a round that takes 5:30 hours, but that was all on us... We enjoyed this course so much that we spent most of the day on it before we realized how slow we were playing. Played midday on a Tuesday and no one was behind us all day. Pristine bent grass fairways. Had the feel of an older championship course (North-West). Edinburgh Premium Outlet is just down the road, so the girls were able to shop while the guys golfed. This is a must play!
Very nice course, but overpriced
A few miles east of Columbus in farm country sits this very beautiful course. Well landscaped with good routing. Trees at the tee boxes so you have a nice cool shady spot to wait if the course is backed up. Moderately challenging and a fun track. Seems to be about $15 overpriced compared to other courses I've played.
Great Course! Well worth the travel time and money.
I'd always wanted to play Otter Creek as I'd seen the rankings in the different magazines. Now I know why it's reviewed so well. It's about an hour and half drive for me, so I was thrilled that it was worth the drive.
We played the West-East. The West course is a beautiful layout sculpted through the natural terrain. It really didn't appear that any dirt had been brought in. The holes just flowed over the existing land.
The West course is a links layout that doesn't tend to help my game, but this tract is very fair. If you hit it straight, or nearly straight you won't have any problems. If you can't then I recommend bringing lots of golf balls, as the heather doesn't lend itself to giving many back.
I'm hoping to play the North course soon and I'll think nothing of making the drive for this course.
