Lake Bluff Golf Club
About
Situated on Chicago's scenic North Shore, Lake Bluff Golf Club has become a "must-play" destination in the area. First opened in 1968, the course has a classic layout with front and back nines that are very different. The front nine provides a gentle start. The terrain is mostly flat and the holes are straightforward. As you move onto Lake Bluff's back nine there is more up and down and consequently the challenges are greater. Don't get too comfortable on the first half of the golf course because you'll need your wits about you for the second. Trees line the narrow fairways and the tricky greens all slope in one direction or another. Accuracy is essential. Water doesn't come into play but the doglegs and strategically placed bunkers provide plenty of challenges.

Good, but a little pricey
Haven't played this course in a couple years, but it was in great shape and getting out as the second group and behind a twosome we didn't have any wait on shots which is always good. Seems like a lot of courses on the North Shore are pricey, but this one is worth the few extra bucks compared to some of the others. Not too open, but not too tight either. It's a fair course as well.
lake blubb gc.
This course was in fantastic shape. The greens were fair but very hard to read. Very narrow fairways and if you miss them your most likely going to punch out and cost yourself a stroke.
Great Course
Wonderful mature course. Hugegreens in great shape, fast with subtle breaks. Unbelieveabe bent fairays. Love the quiet eletrict carts. Old school coourse, no houses few paved cart paths.
Great course for the price
The course layout is very nice, open fairways but fast greens. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants a bit of a challenge. The course played at a nice pace, I'm very happy with my experience. Looking forward to playing there agin.
Outstanding Track
If you like a more open course that will still challenge you, then look no further. This track will be on my monthly cycle for sure.
course in great shape
The course was in great shape, manicured fairways, greens were good, nice layout, not overly difficult, fair test
One Of The Best
The course was excellent and well maintained. The greens were moderately fast and the fairways were ample for the type of hole you were playing. The rough was penal (just the way I like it).
Nice track
Nice little "old" course tucked away in Lake Bluff just off rte 176. Course conditions were good. Only negative was there were a few greens that had bare spots where the pin was set. Groundskeeper could've thought this through and placed pins in the better conditioned parts.
No drivers on driving range.
Place is scoreable. I will return.
Price points... $33 weekday $40 weekend.
I got Hot Deal.
BTW , there's a good chicken rotisserie restaurant on rte 176 around the corner.
Thick rough..Stay in the Fairways
Front Nine layout somewhat odd in the routing. Back Nine much better...holes on back nine much more enjoyable and challenging. Course fairways and greens in really great shape. Rough was very unfair at 8 - 10 inches.
Great course
This course played very nice. To many stakes and roping in front of some of the greens. Fairways were in excellent condition. Greens were still sandy from top dressing but consistant. I'd play there again.
Pretty average, but finishes well
Fairways were honestly in good condition, considering the weather. Greens had been aerated recently, so they were bumpy, but surprisingly fast. A good variety of doglegs and of holes overall. Course has a municipal feel to it. Few interestingly framed tee shots. No beautifully framed greens. Not much in the way of mature trees. The entire front nine you can see every other golfer on the course and the front nine is largely flat and not especially interesting. A few holes are annoying. You hit to the fairway and realize that despite a good tee shot, you have no shot at the green because of trees that block off the entire right or left side of the fairway. Unlike a lot of courses in the area, however, the back nine is much more interesting than the front, which I really enjoyed. It finishes well.
Nice, clean course; not many obstacles
Fairways are wide, but enough trees to get you in trouble if you don't hit fairly straight. No water and not too many bunkers. Lots of Lake Forest college players during school season.
Great Course
The ground was pretty much frozen due to the cold weather but was able to tee with driver...staff handed me two bags of tees; no charge. Greens were also frozen but watch for some hard, bouncy landings. The course overall all free of leaves but beware of geese droppings. They roam at will.
Staff (one person) super friendly. Even invited me for cup of coffee after front 9. It was my first time at Lake Bluff. Can't wait until spring when there is better condition. Def recommended!!!
