Situated on Chicago's scenic North Shore, Lake Bluff Golf Club has become a "must-play" destination in the area. First opened in 1968, the course has a classic layout with front and back nines that are very different. The front nine provides a gentle start. The terrain is mostly flat and the holes are straightforward. As you move onto Lake Bluff's back nine there is more up and down and consequently the challenges are greater. Don't get too comfortable on the first half of the golf course because you'll need your wits about you for the second. Trees line the narrow fairways and the tricky greens all slope in one direction or another. Accuracy is essential. Water doesn't come into play but the doglegs and strategically placed bunkers provide plenty of challenges.

Enjoyable
Based on a recent review regarding course condition, I was a little hesitant. But while there was still some GUR in several areas, I had no trouble playing around it and had a very enjoyable round. I will definitely play Lake Bluff again.
Over rated
Booked because it was rated 4 stars...definitely not. Drove 40 minutes to get there. Disappointing. Under repair in many places. Difficult to follow layout. Will not return.
Might be the nicest course in the N/NW suburbs of Chicago for the value

Fairly open, but with some challenging greens.
A gem in impeccable condition
Lake Bluff Golf Club is a gem. The green fees are reasonable, the course is easy to walk and I challenge one to find better greens, public or private, along the north shore.

Spring day with course in good condition for this time of year. Worth the play for sure !

Course was in good shape considering it is still winter. everyone came out and was very slow, but still enjoyed layout and golfing in winter

The course was in great condition and had amazing pace of play. This is definitely my favorite course in the area.

Enjoyed playing there pretty coarse very nice people.
Good Course
Soggy conditions from Saturday (and prior) rain. Course was pretty well maintained, nice greens!
Playing the black tees made it challenging with the wet conditions. Some long par 4s, but good variety.

This is a nice golf course
Fair, challenging enough, scorable and in great condition. A very enjoyable round. Well maintained course that has fair and fun approaches to most of the greens. The greens are challenging being fairly fast but they run true. Pin placements were thoughtful and sand was good. The rough is tough but not to the point of not being able to find your ball. We are happy to play here again and will return.
Greens even the score
Straight forward very well maintained track. Fairways are excellent. Greens were deceptively fast and had a lot of tilt in them. Staff was very friendly. Great value for the money.
Solid
Lake Bluff is a nice public course in good condition. I play their semi-regularly and really enjoy it. A pretty good value for the money on the North shore.
Legit grill
This course is always in nice condition, although they do seem to aerate the greens every time I've played (1-2 a summer, so I don't play here very often)
I like the way they mix up the holes between par 4's, 5's & 3's, keeps things fun and interesting. this course also has the best food of any course I've been to, had an awesome bratwurst this past time.
Beware, the course does not notify golf now when they aerate!
