Delusional
I decided to give up after nine holes
due to the course conditions. I play with a friend at a different course every week on Tuesday or Wednesday in with the regular group on Sunday mornings. This course by leaps and bounds is in horrible shape and the reason I titled the review delusional is the staff thinks that a $30 per player rate including a card is good value on a Tuesday. This was true a few years ago. However, in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago There are courses that are less money and in far better condition. By all means avoid this golf course.
Unable to play
Sadly they had a tournament which was a shot-gun, so I was only allowed to play after 2 PM. I found another course in the area, which was comparable, yet cost 33% less!
This course if fun to play
The weather was perfect, the course a little wet, but
drove careful as not to ruin the fairway.
Craig, and the staff at the club house are very pleasant
I hope that after golf season they will repair and fix the golf paths. Looking forward to playing Deerpath Golf Course every chance I have.
Good experience
Course is in great shape. We had a GREAT time!
Decent course, sloooow play
The course was in pretty good condition overall, except for a few areas that were dried out or under repair. Layout is a little boring, not many really interesting holes but some good challenges. Pace of play was pretty atrocious. Waited on nearly every single shot and it took almost five hours to play 18. There seemed to be no enforcement of pace of play on a Saturday late morning round. The course was not special enough to go back at nearly $60, and too slow to go back at just about any price.
Good Time!
Beautiful course, would recommend it to others. Will definitely be back.
OK but BEWARE!
Ok course but no ranger working after noon on weekends; they let people tee off starting at back nine so long wait after the turn! If you are wanting to keep pace, forget it. I reported it to the office not he didn't seem to care. Not rushing back!!
Course needs help
Played by myself in a cart, came upon two women on the first green. Waited every shot for three holes before having to jump ahead of them for their lack of golf etiquette and simple courtesy, totally clueless about letting someone play through. As far as the course, surprised at the poor condition for a course representing one of the richest cities in the U.S. Looks like they used pitchforks to aerate the greens! Aweful. The layout was nice, few holes were poorly designed. A lot of better courses in the area for less money. Two of the most financially strapped cities in Illinois, North Chicago and Waukegan have better courses, go figure. Spend some money Lake Forest!! Your course needs it!!! Until then, I'd play a different course
Slow greens and very slow pace of play
Had not played this course on Sunday's for several years because in the past five hour rounds. Had to wait on every shot for group in front. Two of our foursome left after nine holes. I was tempted but thought the pace might pick up on the back, it did not. The fairways are in good shape, the greens are not. The greens appeared to be lacking proper maintenance and did not roll well.. I think they over book the course. I had an on-line deal so not too upset, would have been if I paid full price!
The Court Has Changed
Several years, the course was very attractive to very good golfers. Not so anymore. It now resembles a teaching facility, with a focus on juniors. Maintenance is average -- fairways are dry. The 19th Hole is unappealing. I just don't see the attraction for the better golfer segment. Yes, it is important to bring along younger players. This course is focused on that. But it isn't the excellent experience it once was for the better golfer. The clubhouse has a propensity to send out new groups on 10, interfering with golfers making the turn. Yesterday, they stuck in two groups ahead mine.
Just not a wonderful experience any more for the better golfer.
Let a guy know
This course, while short in distance, is usually very well maintained.
My gripe on this occasion was the fact that the greens and fairways had both been aerated within the last week.
Should have been informed of this. I understand it is routine fall maintenance but let us know.
I appreciate the fact there no houses lining the fairways.
Great course if you get a deal
We really enjoyed this course. We had 2 guys and 2 girls. The course is flat and moderate with lots of trees and a reasonable amount of water. I will only play here if I use a deal, because this is not a $75 per round course but you can typically find golf now or groupon for ~$35/per person which is a nice value. Course was in good shape, when dry, greens are quite slow.
Spread it out
The tee times were set 8 minutes apart. This resulted in an extremely slow pace of play. We teed off approximately 25 minutes after our scheduled time and waited on every hole.
Carts were not readily available due to the over booking so the staff would start you off walking and then bring a cart out to you.
If this overbooking was resolved it would be a great course to play.
Awesome place
I love this golf course. It's a great test for all level golfers. They have airrated the greens to get them healthier so the putting surfaces are not the best.
Disappointing
We were unlucky playing with newly dressed greens which were in pretty poor condition. I understand that this is essential for the course management, just bad timing for our game. The course had a few interesting holes with water, but not as interesting as I had hoped.
course management
We play this course often but occasionally we run into a pace of play issue. After we made the turn at 9 yesterday, two golfers who had just started play jumped in front of us. We waited on every hole on the back nine. The poo shop has to manage this better; cutting in front of groups is just WRONG. Course is very good condition.
