Great day at a great track.
Perfect weather for a weekday 18. The course was in outstanding condition. Greens were fast and true.
Normally we walk but got a deal that included the cart. Pace was unbelievable as we finished in 3:50, right behind the foursome in front of us.
Afterwards enjoyed the 19th on the spacious deck.
Really a perfect day.
Good but
For a public course, Deerfield is solid. I play here once or twice a month. Pace of play is often an issue as Rangers never do anything but drive around. Course in good shape. They should create another set of tees as Gold is 6600 and Blue is 6050...need something in between.

Recommended
We play here often and like it. Course in good condition and reasonably priced. Just wish that rangers would do their jobs and speed up slower groups as we had two very slow groups in front of us. Kills the experience. Almost never met a ranger that did his job. :(
Except for the tollway…
This is a solid muni that I will always downgrade because several holes are so close to the 294 tollway. Even with the big ugly wall, you can hear the traffic on several holes. The course layout is fine but nothing spectacular. It is very well-maintained, including fresh sand in the bunkers. The practice area is grass and better than almost any public course around. The Tap House Grill is a pleasant option for a post-round meal.
Decent, well maintained
This course is slightly above average. It is well maintained, but it's not particularly interesting. Hole layouts are a little basic, except for maybe 2 holes on the back 9. I will say that Larry the starter did a great job with a weird tee time scheduling issue. Needless to say, he was helpful and got my round started expertly well.
Nice course but terrible customer service.
Overall the course is nice and clean. What made the experience bad was the poor customer service. The employee named Steve was not friendly at all. As soon as we got there, he was yelling and shouting at us and other players. I would have given 5 stars, if the guy was more polite.
