River Bend Golf Course

Have played here twice now and no complaints. Longer than some of the other nine hole favorites like Flagg and Sugar Creek. Will keep on rotation.

Played with a friend who is a decently good golfer like myself, & it took us almost 3 hours to play 6.5 holes because of the pace. For comparison, we played 9 holes at the Downers Grove golf course 2 days before in about 1.5 hours. I love the course, and the conditions were pretty good. The issue was having to wait on the group(s) in front of us on every single hole (and the group behind us continuing to drive very near us while we were on the fairway waiting for the group on the green). It caused some anxiety which is the opposite of what golf is meant to produce. Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the staff. The guy at the pro shop was great, told us they were backed up on tee times so we went to my friend’s car to get some water after checking in. The guy giving us our cart told us we were “late” when we came down to the 1st tee literally the exact minute our tee time was (2 groups in front of us sitting at hole 1 waiting to tee off). I thought he was joking so I let out a chuckle, he wasn’t joking at all & looked at me with a straight face. Then, as we tried to squeeze in one more hole, the Marshall told us we needed to leave immediately after he passed 3 different groups trying to finish hole 8 and 9. I watched him drive right past them mentioning nothing to them as I tried to find my drive in the fairway. He mentioned in 3 different ways that we need to get off the course (heard you the first time bud), and when I told him I would just find my ball on the fairway & leave he said in a condescending tone “you’re not going to find your ball anyway”. Found it in the middle of the fairway thank you very much. In conclusion, it’s a nice course & well kept. I’ve enjoyed their patio, food and drink, and course. The very slow pace and attitudes of the staff were questionable.

Good 9 hole golf course, pace of play terrible, very bad, over 3 hours to play nine holes, no on course management by staff. Hard pressed to play again, won't recommend to friends.

It was terrible. We skipped a hole and played 8 holes in 2:30 hours. 8 minutes apart tee times is not enough. Waited 5-8 minutes at every tee.

River Bend is a nice course if you want to go play 9 holes. The course was in good shape. The issue is the course is very tight and, a bad shot means you might be hitting off of another fairway. As a result, the pace of play is slow. It took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes and it wasn't because of our scores.

Played this course on a Sunday, 2:48pm tee time. This 9 hole has a really fun layout. The course was well maintained for the most part. Unlike most public courses, the l sand was well kept and you could play out of it. The greens could use some TLC.

The pace of play however was miserable. It was so backed up, took 3 hours. Played with a brand new golfer who was able to take 9-10 strokes every hole. We would round the corner thinking surely the next group has moved on. Nope! They were still waiting to tee off.

I will play again, but I would never tee off later than 7am here.

We made a 4-some reservation for 6pm on Thursday 8/20.

Upon arrival we were told that they were way behind schedule due to a High School league. At least 30-40 minutes behind... and we would not be able to get in all nine holes.

Three members of our foursome came from a distance away and we rearranged our schedules to make this date and time work for all four of us. There was No text or phone call from the Pro Shop alerting us of their delays and possibly saving us the drive.

The proper customer service resolution would have been to have us pay for the 9 holes as scheduled, golf as many as we could before darkness set in... and give us a raincheck for another round to be used at a later date.

Nope!

Instead we were basically told sorry please try again. This is poor customer service.

If the high school league will be playing in the afternoon, perhaps RiverBend should not schedule tee times only to cancel them... or hold ALL tee times accountable for the pace of play including the HS, which I’m sure has golfers better than me.

I came here with my family of 4. Two new players. I picked this place because its not to fancy.

I told both the club house and the starter that i had two new players and that we would not be a problem with pace of play and would pick up often.

As expected we did not get off the first tee well. I drove ahead. The starter drove up to my wife and said that was awful. You guys shouldn't be playing a course like this. (lol at that. Course was in crap condition). Told her that she should leave and go get a refund.

Lets just say i had a few words for him a few times. Since when does a starter or ranger judge peoples play. FTR - we never once slowed up the already incredibly slow play.

Will absolutely never go back and will tell everyone I know.

Not enough yardage markers. Slowed us down and then the ranger tried to push us along.

Went to play somewhere close with my wife and son but to play 9 on a Sunday and walk off after 7th hole due to already 2.5 hours - just too awful. No starter - no ranger to improve pace. Now I remember why I hadn’t played there in many years. Sorry but look elsewhere.
