No Course Improvement
If you can get a hot deal for under $40, it's fun but brutal! Long and difficult course. My gripe with the course is they have made zero improvements in over a decade. Cart paths are absolutely brutal, cracked cement, roots growing through, dilapated bridges, etc. Not an enjoyable ride. Fairways are a cross between fairways and rough, some areas are hard as rock, fairways have some weeds growing through. Greens are unpredictable. Some are lightning fast, some are slow as Molasses, some are average. Big Run, spend some money and make some improvements!

Best days are over
Great track with very nice greens. Course is dried out, dead trees are everywhere (maybe 40 in total), no water or ranger anywhere. Played maybe 25 times total. Greens good, everything else bad. Very sad.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for playing our course 25 times. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the condition of the course. We will work to improve the areas you mentioned.
Rough shape
Played here years ago, I remember enjoying it.
The course is now in rough shape. Lots of trees and elevation changes are challenging. Greens are in decent shape. The fairways are indistinguishable from the rough. Rough is long. It’s difficult to find balls that should be easy to find. Your going to loose balls.
This course should be a lot of fun. Just seems neglected. $30 -$40 golf course with cart.
Hello Gregory, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your past enjoyment of our course. We apologize for the current state of the fairways and roughs, and we appreciate your constructive feedback as it will help us improve the maintenance of the course going forward.
A bit of a let down
Naturally sloping and entertaining
Dry fairways made for unreliable iron play
Plenty dead trees with loss of the once mature tree presence
Greens were fine but very slow unrolled and not cut lately
Everything a bit dated on a potentially great course

Big Run
Cart paths bad, bridges need work, rough too long, and no carts in fairways! Had twosome jump ahead of us on back nine. No ranger and no beverage cart.
Other than that, landscape and scenery has a great potential to become Lockport's premier golf course.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Big Run Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Great course, stay on the fairway!
High roughs make it very challenging to find your ball. The change in elevation from hole to hole makes it fun and challenging regardless!
Has Seen Better Days
Big Run has the potential to be one of the best courses in the Suburbs of Chicago, but it has not been maintained in years. The rough was extremely thick, the fairways were fluffy, and the greens were slow and inconsistent. Extremely disappointing considering it has one of the most creative and scenic layouts in the area. Without a change in management the course will likely stay how it is. There was no ranger on the 1st tee to make sure people were on time and the cart paths/bridges need serious work.

Non-memorable Memorial Day Round
I've played here in the past and was hoping with all the great conditions of nearby courses this course might not disappoint. However, with some very thick rough conditions it made the round much longer than it should have been. The ground fairways and rough were firm like mid June and browned in most areas.
There was no starter just the guy working the inside over the intercom calling people to the tee. There was no cart girl out on the course... on a Holiday. There was no ranger. I've heard the rumors and I think they might be true sadly. The redeeming quality the course has is its layout and undulations.

The rough was deep.
Staff very friendly to our group of golfers. Bar staff, and half-way house staff was great. Challenging course would play agai n.
Fun and Challenging, but bring extra balls
Large course with plenty of elevation changes and dog legs making it challenging and fun, but beware of the rough. If you don’t hit on the fairway you will spend a lot of time looking for your ball. The rough is VERY thick and long and you will often times not see a ball unless you’re standing directly over it, making finding any errant tee shots nearly impossible. However, the course is still very fun and challenge is welcomed. Do yourself a favor and ride this course, don’t walk

Heinous Rough
The conditions at Big Run always are dependent on the weather. They don't have a full blown sprinkler system. Currently there's US Open length rough and it's very difficult to find balls let alone hit out of it. If they cut the rough with the current drought they'd lose it. Same with the green collars and fairways.....and the fairways are already browning out a bit. Hard very fast conditions - greens slow and a tad bumpy.....traps have needed attention for several years now. Quite a few dead trees that should be cut down - and a bunch of others that need trimming. The opening tee shot is too claustrophobic. Nets to warm up and a great old school clubhouse with bar/locker room/showers. I've lost count of how many times I've played Big Run. Our group at a wonderful day and thanks to all of the great folks at Big Run for the hospitality.
Solid 3 stars plus. $45 senior rate during week is decent.....with a bit of rain hopefully the grounds crew will be able to cut the rough down to a playable level as we as getting the speed of the greens up a tad. Others have panned this place and guess what.....I love it, recommend it and always happy to play it. We'll be back later in the season for sure!

Beautiful
Ground sleeping much improved. I think it could still be cut shorter but the course it beautiful and although tough, was playable.
From Old Glory to Cash Cow
Good: Best layout in the area. Greens in good condition
Bad: Rough is cut high so that if a ball falls on it it disappears. Unless you step on it it will be lost.
UGLY: 1. Cart Paths are only around tees and greens, and that are in TERRBLE shape. 2. Bridges over creeks look dangerously out of repair. 3. Clubhouse area very unattractive, 4. Carts were not allowed in the fairways?
With some repairs and better maintenance you CAN bring this course back to its old glory, With a perfect day for golf, there very few players playing!
