Big Run Golf Club

I had never played Big Run before. While it is pretty course, extremely long and has many challenging hills, peaks and valleys, the course's fairways were in terrible shape. It was like playing in the desert. It was apparent, the fairways had not been watered in quite some time. All day long it was hitting off a hard pan, On the positive side, shots rolled for quite some time, which definitely helped on the longer holes. The greens were in decent shape and were challenging with up and down hill putts. I would only play this course in early spring when fairways shouldn't be that hard and have green grass vs. the brown grass we experience all day.

They pace of play was good. Greens were in decent shape considering the lack of rain. The fairways were very hard and needs watering. Rough was thick with weeds. Staff was friendly and helpful. Will play again in the future.

My buddy and I played this course recently because we heard great things and the Course’s description online sounded intriguing. Despite other reviews stating that the course was burned out, we decided to take a chance. Needless to say, this course has so much potential, but current owners really need to invest in the property to bring it up to current standards. The greens were probably the best part of the course. They currently do not have an irrigation system, so it is true that the fairways and rough are burnt out. Bridges and pathways need to be updated. Even if Big Run were just to invest in an irrigation system for the fairways, this course would be so much better.

Some of the fairways were dust and the course has only been watering the tees and greens in this weather. Probably ok at $40 a round or less but not worth the round at $65.

Course was not as bad as most recent reviews. Fairways were a little dry as was the rough. Greens and areas around the greens were in good condition. Tee boxes were ok.

Wish I could have had a better experience but not on this day. The greens were super slow, fairways were burnt and hard where I was concerned I might snap off a club head, the pace of play was agonizingly slow. It was hot and no drink cart ever passed by. Would not recommend to anyone.

Big Run = Big Fun, One of the few course that really gives you a different challenge on every hole. The different elevations, bunkers, trees, and greens all designed to test your skills. The course and facility was built in the 30's so it;s a little weathered and worn but you get many majestic views of mother nature. The food from the kitchen is awesome try their breakfast sandwich, the grill master at the turn makes great to go food and the bar afterwards is a friendly place to cool off and talk about your round. The folks are super nice which makes the drive and $$ all worth it. I play this course at least twice a season and would more often if i lived closer.

The greens are very difficult given the different tiers and the fact you cannot tell what tier you are supposed to be on without any GPS.

If they were offering me $50 to play here again I wouldn't accept it. I have never played a course that was in this poor of shape. I played here years ago and it was amazing, however now the grounds are worse kept than Chernobyl.

I played the course last year and in the spring of this year and it was in decent shape but it doesn’t look like it has been watered. The ground was rock hard and grass was dead. Attached picture is the middle of the fairway. Sand had rocks in it too. Pace of play was pretty slow, 5.5 hour round.

Challenging course. Fairways are in rough shape. Needs water as it's all yellow. Greens are good shape. Teeboxes are decent. No cart person. No starter. Bare bones course at $65 price per round. I wouldn't travel far for it but its close by for me.

If you can get a hot deal for under $40, it's fun but brutal! Long and difficult course. My gripe with the course is they have made zero improvements in over a decade. Cart paths are absolutely brutal, cracked cement, roots growing through, dilapated bridges, etc. Not an enjoyable ride. Fairways are a cross between fairways and rough, some areas are hard as rock, fairways have some weeds growing through. Greens are unpredictable. Some are lightning fast, some are slow as Molasses, some are average. Big Run, spend some money and make some improvements!

Great track with very nice greens. Course is dried out, dead trees are everywhere (maybe 40 in total), no water or ranger anywhere. Played maybe 25 times total. Greens good, everything else bad. Very sad.

Played here years ago, I remember enjoying it.

The course is now in rough shape. Lots of trees and elevation changes are challenging. Greens are in decent shape. The fairways are indistinguishable from the rough. Rough is long. It’s difficult to find balls that should be easy to find. Your going to loose balls.

This course should be a lot of fun. Just seems neglected. $30 -$40 golf course with cart.
