Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Old Oak Joke
The layout is the only thing this course has going for it. I’d only play it again if I could catch a hot deal , otherwise not worth the cash.
extremely slow
nice course BUT pace of play is extremely slow and I went on a Thursday I could imagine how extremely slow the weekends are. make sure you plan for at least a 5 hour round
extremely slow
course was very nice and challenging. BUT the pace of play was extremely slow the round took 5 hours :(
Tight, but fair Layout
The course was fair, and was a version of target golf. Playing the white tees, since it was our first time, it was more important to play location. The tight fairways lined with trees on many holes required this, with plenty of and or water thrown in to reward accuracy before length.
The putting was a big challenge with many holes placed on ridges, so lagging was tough, and often if you missed the putt, it rolled past 5-10 feet.
Beautiful, challenging, fair
I have not played Old Oak in a few years and always pleasantly surprised what a great course it is nestled in the community. Challenging but not ridiculously so... great hole designs and upkeep. My only complaint were the lack of yardage markers on the course. Plenty of sprinkler heads but the yardage faded away so you can't read them.
Also they have a great practice facility as well.
Can't wait to play again.
Great day of play
We had a great day of play at Old Oak. Course is in great shape! Everyone was very nice and the price was right.
Rough Greens
The course was absolutely beautiful. Very well maintained and well laid out. Rough was not too deep and the fairways were fantastic. The biggest challenge to the course is the unpredictability of the greens. They all rolled well and were quick. However you literally cannot trust your eyes trying to read them. There are slopes and curves all over the place. It was never uncommon among the foursome to see four putts start within 10 feet of the hole and all wind up off the putting surface. I look forward to playing again soon. DO NOT GET ABOVE THE PIN! You will regret it quickly.
We played 18 holes at 12noon then after 3 of us wanted to play more the course charged us 16$ per guy for 9 holes at 4pm
Considering we should have gotten the replay rate at twilight and play as many holes as we could get in before sun down didn't make sense
First time playing this course in years and it's better than I remember! Rolling terrain and huge old oak trees all over the course, along with Long Run Creek running throughout the course make this easy looking course much more challenging. The greens rolled pretty smooth; there had been some holes punched recently for airification, but even with that they were mostly smooth. Definitely recommended!
