Old Oak Country Club
About
Old Oak Country Club is situated only 20 minutes from Chicago, but the beautifully wooded terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickory trees, makes it feel as though it's much further away. Originally opened in 1926, the golf course is one of the area's oldest and even one of the oldest in the state. It has undergone many renovations over the years but it still retains its classic character. The layout offers plenty of variety with drivable par 4s and lengthy par 5s. The rolling topography provides many of the golf course's challenges, from the rolling fairways and undulating greens to the elevated tees and blind shots. Mature trees tower over the fairways, adding another tricky element to the golf course. Old Oak Country Club is challenging but fair and still quite playable, which is why it has long been a local favorite.

Great shape
I golf here every year,
Course is in great shape.
Golfer to the left, right and behind you
Not a bad course, it was in good condition and the greens played well. My only complaint is, all the holes are on top of one another. I had a couple balls hit my direction, that came way to close for comfort. (Terrible shots)
The Greens were PRO condition
A Beautiful Fall day could only be marred by a bad score. NONE of our group (2-14 Hcp) could score. The greens were Lightning fast. The 2nd hole green had 13 puts on it!! We all had to laugh as the uphill put l either came up just and inch or so short from going in and rolled back to 7-8'. Other than the speed of the greens, we enjoyed our round as the leaves were minimal and the rest of the course was in great shape on a 70 degree day in November.
Very nice condition
Course fun to play good pace
Liked the green layout!
Old golf course, with beautiful holes and surrounding scenery. The greens are undulated but fun and in good shape. Will definitely play this course in the future.
Old Oak
One of my favorite courses to play! Course is in great shape and the greens are very quick. However it seems that the world's slowest golfers are always on this course. It attracts the local over 70 crowd who makes an entire day of golf apparently. Needs a ranger to speed things up!
Great Deal
Hot Deal for 10 bucks. Can't beat it for a course like this.
Me and my boys finished in 3.5 hours.
Decent condition considering all the rain recently.
Oaker
Really love the course. Well kept. Nothing is tricked up.
Nice traditional course
Played this course about 30 years ago and again yesterday and a very nice change. Trees have grown up so course is very narrow in spots. Not long but challenging in spots. Overall tees and fairways very nice, greens a little rough in spots but rolled fine. Staff was friendly. I would go back.
Good for the value
Greens were a little off on conditioning this day - they are usually better. Pace of play was slow because we were stuck behind an outing giving out free alcohol to its participants, however, we were given ample warning about it when checking in with the pro shop, and the on course marshall did allow us to skip back a few holes when appropriate and replay to mitigate not having to wait on the outing the entire time, so bonus points for that. Will play this play again in the future, it's a solid design that is normally in good shape with very reasonable prices.
Challenging but fun
Course was in very good shape and provides enough challenge for all skill levels. Course knowledge is extremely helpful as their are a few doglegs and approach shots that you might play differently after your first time thru. Greens rolled true but did have some significant slope on a few that made for some tricky putts. Looking forward to my next round here.
Walked off after 9
Course is challenging, narrow fairways and steep bunkers make up for being a very short course. My partner and I walked off after 9 though because the pace of play was so poor. We were 4 carts deep at the boxes on 5-9. The ranger asked 1 of the slow groups to skip a hole but did nothing about the other slow groups, fairly inexcusable to be honest when you have received multiple complaints. I'm not saying being a ranger is an easy job but if you aren't willing to do it properly please find someone who will
Just right for us novices.
Except for the four in front of us that lost 2 full holes in front of them, it was a nice day.
The Ranger showed up on our 16th hole a little late to put a flame under them.
Gem of a Course
I have been teeing it up here for almost 40 yrs.. Course is challenging and has an attractive lay-out. The staff is very accommodating.
Good course
Interesting design
Not real long but challenging
Some greens are very tough if you're in the wrong spot
