Marengo Ridge Golf & Country Club
About
Marengo Ridge Golf Club opened as a nine-hole course in 1963. Spread across rolling, wooded hills, the course was crafted by re-purposing an old farm. The working cattle barn was even renovated to become the clubhouse. As the golf course garnered a local following, a new nine was added in 1990. The more than 25-year difference between when the two nines were constructed give the course a unique character. The layout seamlessly blends modern techniques and classic design. The distinct topographies of each nine add even more variety. Marengo Ridge Golf Club's original nine holes weave through mature trees while the newer holes are more open and links-style. There are several tricky doglegs throughout but it isn't overly punishing if you're errant. You'll also face several water hazards and strategically placed bunkers.

Nice holes and good greens
Hard to rate course conditions in November. I did feel like the course was extremely firm (to go along with high winds) but the greens were in good shape. Front nine is VERY tight and, given the wind, made the first nine a bit nerve wracking as balls flew around. However, I did find some really interesting holes on the nine including a very difficult first hole. Back nine opened up quite a bit and seemed to meander about the land better and offered one of the more majestic tee shots in recent memory on the 13th hole from the blue tees. I look forward to playing in spring when the grass is growing and the course gets some water.
Pace was public slow, but not unreasonable and we played with a couple of real nice guys. Back to the greens, they are a real defense for the course with a good combination of sloping greens and undulations. Several putts felt relatively flat, but were in fact very downhill.
Good layout, though tight on the front; some really nice holes; and good greens with ample, but very fair, slopes and undulations.
Always A Good Time
I play this course a few times a year. I usually don’t have any problems. Slow play once in a while(I’ve seen fivesomes out on the course on the weekend plenty of times)Cart paths(not paved just stone) may have been built when the club first opened and not tended to since. I’ve been playing there for a few years now and they have gotten worse. The few people I’ve seen at the front desk checking people in have never been very friendly(the person at the bar, cart people and starter especially have always been great). Besides that it’s a nice course. Water and sand placed in the right places to get you in trouble if you don’t hit fairways(although sand was in bad condition yesterday as I was in there more than I’d like to admit). Course is usually priced fair and pace of play isn’t usually a problem. Distance control and fairways are a must on a lot of these holes to keep you out of trouble. Besides the few minor things I would change as stated above, I always have a great time here and will come back. All in all not a bad way to spend a November Sunday on the links.
Great golf course needed a ranger pace of play was slow
This a really nice course for the money. Love playing here and book it every time I get a good deal on Golf now.
Saturday’s Round
The course was in pretty good shape & everything was COVID ready. The only complaint I would have was the bug issue. Tons of bugs & it got annoying fast. Other then that the greens were in good shape & they even had some sucker pin positions. A good value for the money & drive. I do live 45 minutes away.
Fantastic Value Course
It was far from my home but I love this course, it feels like your playing on 2 different courses when you hit the back 9, very fun and not that challenging. 9/10.
Fun course
Several challenging holes make it interesting. Fairways, greens and teeboxes in great shape. Friendly staff. Good pace of play.
