Who sends out pairs behind a 4 some?
Picked up a twilight tee time that should have been able to finish 18 with no issue, and my group plays fairly quickly, however we got held up by the group ahead that felt like they had all day to finish their round. We were constantly waiting to play off the tee and waiting for them to get off the green while they took their time to line up 1 foot puts. We were already 12 minutes behind pace before the turn, but no sign of the ranger telling them to pick up pace. On top of that they sent out 2 pairs behind us. No thought of possibly having those 2 groups form a 4 some. So we tried to be considerate and let them play through but once we let them play through they decided to now take their time and play slower causing us to basically play the last 3 holes practically darkness. I used to love playing here. But with no one regulating pace of play and groupings, not to mention placing the pins on downhill lies, might be better off playing Countryside down the street.
Fast Greens
Greens are tough. Lots of movement, and extremely fast due to drought conditions at time of our play. Had to be below the hole to get putts in. Putts from above the hole would run off the green if missed the hole.
Glad there's a ranger but rude doesn't work
We were told on 10th hole we were holding up entire course which is ridiculous. We play in just over 4 hours. Lost a ball on first hole and one in foursome had trouble finding on 3rd hole. While I'm glad they actually care about pace, the ranger comments were rude and to say we were holding up ebmntire course. We didn't see group behind us at all on 10th hole yet he tracks us down to tell us on 11th tee we were so slow. 4 hours with twosome who joined us as newer golfers is not bad. Sand there has rocks and bunkers were very compacted. Greens are very fast and difficult. I typically love playing here as irs a great challenge for 9 index or any for that matter. Just wish starter/ranger would have some class. Semi ruined back 9 trying to rush along new players and we never held anyone up on the vmback so why so rude??? Unlikely to want to return.
Very nice suburban course
Has some very challenging holes and is quite scenic. Fast greens. Overall very fun!
One of the better muni courses in the area
Always enjoy this course. Was a bit backed up, but still a good time.
Very good, could be great
Steeple Chase has one of the best layouts in the area, with a great mix of looks, directions, and elevations. It’s challenging but very fair. The greens looked like they had suffered some ice damage or something, which I haven’t seen at other courses nearby, but they rolled nicely. The carts and GPS are very good, and the staff is friendly. There are essentially no amenities, not even a driving range, and that’s the main reason this is just a very good course and not a great one. But it’s easy to warm up at another course half a mile away.
Can’t believe that it’s taken me so long to experience a round at Steeple Chase.
I throughly enjoyed our round today. Certainly look forward to the next opportunity to play again.
The greens are certainly a challenge being so severely sloped.
I was delighted with the layout and the challenge of the course.
Great play!!
Fast greens
Love this place, links style course, greens are quicker than most around the area which is preferred
Saturday Round
Course layout is great, pace of play was also great for noon on a Saturday.
Teeboxes in good condition, fairways as well.
Greens had weeds growing out of them and in terrible shape for this time of year.
Constantly losing balls in the rough just off the Fairway since it's overgrown and balls would just disappear.
Would play again if I knew ahead of time that the greens were in good shape and rough trimmed down and not overgrown.
I like this course
Only downside was that winners didnt get to buy the losers beer as the clubhouse was closed . Even at 6:00.
