Good course for all skill levels
I enjoy playing and it's proximity to my home makes it a handy choice for me. I'm always amazed at how wet the course is even when it's been several days or even a week or more since rainfall. They do a good job of maintaining the course and the facilities. A few of the holes are VERY challenging and keep it interesting. All in all a good course to play
Interesting ciyrse
Old track in fair condition
Good Community Type Course
Great value when booked on Golf Now Hot Deals otherwise good course to play each year.
Ridiculous - Wear a hard hat
1.5 stars. This course struggles and for good reason. On a Sunday morning they allowed a slow playing 5-some with three walkers to tee off at approx 930am who took close to 5 hours to complete their round.....and then two foursomes teed off after them. Tee sheet was empty between 10am and 11am. We unfortunately arrived early (not on purpose as traffic from city was light) around 940am for our 1107am tee time. Despite a completely empty tee sheet we were told in no uncertain terms we could not tee off until 1107 because our round was "comped" on our GolfVisions Mgmt players pass (good after 11am on weekends)...GolfVisions manages the course so these are their employees!! No we were not comped we paid money for our book to your management company last November. to play your course......and your 1st tee is empty!! Even better a foursome had booked the 11am time via a GolfNow hot deal.....and they were told same when they arrived at 1020am. Can't tee off until 11am. Tee box still was empty....and you have six customers ready to golf that you've dismissed and can't give them a break and let them go golf? Why is the tee sheet empty? Because you have six less people who won't be bothered to play your course anymore. At 1025am a two-some booked the 1052am time by phone and then didn't arrive until well after 11am. Thankfully the 11am foursome allowed our two-some to tee off in front of them. Went to the 1st tee at 1052.....and waited. Where's the 1052 group?? We teed it up at 1055am and took off. Nice except it took us almost an hour to play the last 4 holes and because of that 5-some the course was now backed up even with an hour gap in the tee sheet!!!...those poor souls who played after us......the kind 4-some who allowed us to play ahead easily caught up to us.
The golf course itself is decent except no one repairs ball marks and the traps while maintained have very little sand. A few interesting holes and challenges. A few hole positions obviously had not been changed for several days which resulted in some bumpy putting. The golf course is tight in several areas and the two of us almost were hit by balls from other groups FIVE TIMES....twice while we were in the middle of the 18th fairway from two different holes. Can't recommend this course to anyone who at least has an average game. 2.5 star course, under 1 stars for the rest of it.
Bad management
Poor customer service, management, course condition and poor staff training.
No body should ever play in this course.
Unrealized potential
The architecture of the holes is the best feature, but course conditions hurt. This may be a reflection on the people who played ahead of us more than anything else. Most of the greens were full of spike marks from people who do not pick up their feet when they walk. Many of the sand traps were un-raked. The course needs better signage. Most tee boxes lack signs identifying the hold. Playing the course for the first time, it was often difficult to know where to go to find the next tee.
Nice little course, fun but with flaws.
Friendly staff accommodating of our friend who drove to the wrong course and made us miss our tee time. The pace of play was pretty bad. At one point, there were 5 groups on 2 holes. For all 18 holes, we had to wait on at least 1 group ahead of us and for the front 9, there was always someone waiting on us to finish.
That being said, I really enjoyed the layout of the course. Lots of different hazards and hole designs requiring tee shots with a variety of clubs. A personal point of pride: I came within 25 yards of driving the green on 18. The group ahead of me gave me a nice nod of approval when I got to my ball, and felt good to close my round with that.
Lots of unrepaired ball marks on the greens, but the fairways were in excellent condition. Tee-boxes could use some work too, but we are also 4 months into the golf season, so that's par for the course.
Playable for all !
Beautiful day , great golf & lots of fun !(
Take it or leave it
This is kind of a rinky-dink course, okay for a beginning golfer but not for someone who is real serious about the game. The fairways were spotty, the greens were full of unrepaired ball marks. Generally speaking not very well maintained in my opinion. At one time was purchased by Mundelein School District for possible expansion per the course website.
Improvement
Condition of course has improved from last time I played here. Pace of play was much better, also
Interesting Experience
Their was no starter or ranger. Groups were just sent out at random times and not at their actual tee times which created chaos out on the course. Very very slow pace. Paid for 18 and only played 9 due to loss of interest. It took almost 3 hours to finish 9 holes. Overall the staff was very pleasant though, just very understaffed.
No Common Courtesy
Played this course only because I found a deal on it on Golfnow and had never been to it so wanted to get out for a rare weeknight round. The staff was super friendly. The bar is old and no real pro shop at all. The course was wet from the prior days rains but overall in decent condition. I was totally shocked though by the lack of class of the fellow golfers that play that course. I have never in my life seen so many ball marks on every single green and I did not see a single bunker that wasn't filled with foot prints and divots. They had rakes all around every bunker and apparently no one knows how to use them. For the Golfnow price it wasn't bad and I think I got my moneys worth but can't see myself ever going back even with a great deal if other golfers can't start showing some class in helping to maintain the course for others to enjoy.
This course is peaceful recommend.
Every staff is kindness.good course.not too big not too small.
Nice little course
Nice little course, friendly people, and well priced. They should have a dress code, as I saw people with blue jeans and one guy with a tank top! Other than that, a very nice day.
Go somewhere else
I would NEVER play this course again. Rude staff, course conditions are pretty rough, pro shop could use TLC. There are plenty of other places to play.
Good chance to score low but not worth it
I had never played this course before and had never talked to anyone else who had played it either. It was one of the courses within reasonable driving distance on Labor Day that had avaiable tee times and was reasonably priced. After playing the course, I now see why so many tee times were avaiable.
The course layout is very tight with many of the fairways only having a thin line of trees separating them. However, if you end up playing in the next fairway over, you still have a chance for par with a shot over the tree line. It is a good mix of par 4's with some being driveable with a good drive and the others often requiring more than a wedge in. The scorecard has no course map on it and many of the holes do not have a sign designating what hole it is. Stick as close as you can to the cart path and take your best guess. On one of the holes, I aimed at the wrong fairway because there were three fairways with nothing to distinguish them.
I feel like I'm being generous when I say the course condition was fair. The tee boxes were dry and pretty torn up. The fairways were dry and pretty torn up. The rough was inconsistent as some places were green and thick and other places were hardpan. The greens were dry and and rolled ok. The water hazards throughout the course were disgusting in that it was hard to distinguish between the water and algae.
Many people had neglected to repair their ball marks but I won't hold that against the course as it it more of a testament of the type of people that play there. I was with my girlfriend and as we were playing, we saw other golfers taking their shirts off and playing shirtless. That fact alone was enough for her to say, "I don't want to play here again."
Pace of play was good as we got done in under 4 hours and that was with having to wait on every tee on the back 9.
The staff was friendly and the drinks were cold. The only staff I saw all day were three employees in the clubhouse. Not too much more to say than that.
Bottom line: It will look like a good deal on Golf Now as it did for me...spend the extra money and go play at Countryside or go to the driving range instead.
Decent Track - Had fun
First timer and enjoyed it....Fairly straight forward old school track...somewhat deceptively longer than it looks. Just enough fairly challenging holes on the front and back with a few easy ones....Tee boxes were sketchy as were the fairways. Had an 11am time on an overcast Sunday. Never figured we'd be allowed to tee off almost a 1/2 hour early and finish in 310! Greens (really decently sized...not small at all) were in decent shape they rolled well although they seemed to have some sort of grain to them. Enough hills and dales and few water hazards to avoid very strategically placed. I'll call it a $25 course which was almost empty mid to late morning on a Sunday? I'll take that all day. Course is somewhat packed in on the land it was built on....a few of the par 4's have some pretty small fairway widths...when crowded I could envision very slow play by high handicappers and needing a hard hat. I'd give the course conditions a tad under 3 stars but 5 stars for the folks who work there - all were welcoming and most helpful. Getting around in 310 probably helped but even if it took 430 I'd still call it a very decent budget golfing experience....and you can play 3 or 4 rounds here versus just one at Pine Meadow which is nearby.
Easy Course
Course was in good condition, but play was very slow. We were always waiting at each hole 2 deep. They need a starter and some Rangers.
Village Green
The course was in poor condition. Fairways looked like my yard and the greens were rock hard with brown spots. No one repaired ball marks on the greens. Sand traps were dirt traps. Several ball washers were broken. The pace was good and the staff was friendly. An old short flat course for beginners or slow senior. But they were planting tress maybe ther are trying to repair a broken course
High Winds = Dry Course
The course itself is nice but due to dry conditions the fairways were being actively watered as we played. It hasn't rained in the area in several days. Winds were very high and made a great challenge. Tee boxes were dry and hard. Greens were short and fast. Overall it's a good course to play. Tees with the wind went as far as 380 yards for me.
