This course is 5 minutes walk from my house.
Great short course rated best 9 hole layout in the state of Illinois.
One of the best 19th hole with great staff.
Design of the course have changed over the years but the original 18 hole layout hosted the very first televised professional golf tournament with Bobby Jones.
Great 9-hole course
Excellent staff and course for 9-holes of golf. Pub/Restaurant had great after game lunch
Best 9 hole golf course in Illinois.
The course is always in great shape despite the number of plays every day. Great restaurant and bar with very friendly staff.
Pleasantly surprised
I grew up in Niles but was never a golfer.. this was the first time I showed up at the course, and was very pleasantly surprised. The course was in amazing shape! It’s very well maintained, and the staff was nice and friendly. I will definitely come back.
Best 9 holes in the area
Very solid course, some what difficult and yet very well maintained. If you are looking for a quick 9 I would chose this course. Only con is due to the location it draws a lot of groups, can slow down play a bit.
Great 19 th hole.
I live less than 5 minutes from the golf course, very convenient.
Hidden Gem
I play this course regularly as part of a league.
It is a great experience. At first look, it appears to be a fairly regular 9 hole - 6 par 4's and 3 par 3's - and so is inviting for the high handicapper. However, you soon realize that keeping it in the fairway off the tee and having your top short game with you is key, even if you consider yourself a good player.
There are plenty of trees, water, and undulating greens to make this a really cool course to play.
It is great value for money and even better, they have a fantastic bar and restaurant right by the first tee!
I highly recommend the course.
Great Place to work on your swing
Great Staff Keeps the course in really good condition. Its a short course but if your just getting back to swinging your clubs a bit, its a good place!
Home of the first televised golf tournament.
Course is always kept nice despite the amount of play, very nice 19th hole.
Best 9 Hole Golf Course
Tam is an exceptional 9 hole course. Challenging holes, very well maintained and attractive landscaping. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Great restaurant on course to end play with a delicious meal and conversation. Would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to play a quick 9.
Love this course!
I have been playing in a league for 20+ years. Friendly staff and pretty course. They work hard to keep the course in shape, but it gets a lot of play and can be slow at times. Fairways are a bit narrow and there are no par 5s. If you want to rip your drives this is not the course for you.
TAM Is My "Private Club"
I've been playing at TAM weekly for over 14 years, and twice weekly for the past 2 years. On a beautiful summer evening, I look around and can't believe it is a municipal course -- beautiful greens, well-kept landscaping, and the sight of wildlife -- deer, coyote, blue heron, very large turtles -- almost guaranteed. Water hazards aren't man-made, they're the North Branch of the Chicago River. The staff members are great,, and dinner always follows only steps away at the Howard Street Inn adjacent to and overlooking the course.
Love Tam O'Shanter
I have played at Tam as part of a ladies league for 25 years. Management is very supportive to our Tam Glams League who were previous Executive Women Golf (EWG) members. The price is right for me since some of us now enjoy their senior rate; a very good value.
Our league plays off the whites and the course is always challenging, no cake walk since we are over water three times, but is always in good shape.
Staff are very friendly, and the food is great off an extensive menu especially when served on their outdoor patio.
