Golfer Reviews
1st Willowhill round of 2025!
New hole layout and flow is perfect. Greens and bunkers were in great shape. Can’t wait for completion of the driving range.
Early in the season
Because of he nature of this course, it gets better late in the season. Scottish style course needs the brushes to grow in. Still, fun to play. Greens could use a rolling.
Very early in season, not all facilities available
On 4/13 very windy on most holes 20 mph+.. All grass just starting to grow which in the rough on a links course was actually OK. Putting difficult as still putting on aeration holes & not at all true to form. We agreed to only 2 puts on scoring. Also driving range being renovated, not available. Restaurant unavailable.
Honestly too early in the season to play it.
Excellent shape
Everything was great. My only concern was the tee box on the ninth hole. The steps going up to the back tee marker concerns me. Somebody could twist an ankle or fall. The steps should be repaired. They are old and in bad shape. I was afraid to walk down them so walked down the hill. Even that can be difficult if the grass is wet.
Underwhelming
Boring course. No yardage markers. Poorly manicured greens. Tough finding next tee box.
Not a good value for the money.
Golf course was fine
Everything was fine regarding the golf course. Booked a tee time through tee off.com. The clubhouse personnel could not find my reservation on their system, even with the confirmation number. Wish they served food
a well-maintained course with great location and the view
nice course, with a rare viewpoint of downtown Chicago skyscrapers. the course is well maintained (except for the rough unpaved pathways) and staffs are kind.
Nice course but feels a bit unfinished
The course is nice to play, but seems like a bit of a work in progress. Some areas still under construction, including the gravel parking lot. That said, conditions of fairways and greens were generally very good. Bunkers also in great shape. Some tee boxes were a bit worn and uneven but nothing too terrible. Staff was friendly. Pace of play was slow but I have come to expect that from 9 hole courses especially on the weekend, so I just try to enjoy the weather and scenery. Nice views of the surrounding area and you can see the downtown skyline too.

Hang on to your hat
Played course on cool.windy day in September. Course has few trees, and many bunkers. Holes that were downwind were easier for me. Holes into the wind or cross wind were very difficult, in my opinion.
Even chips or putts were affected.
Had fun, and nobody bothered me, and found a couple of Titliests in the fairway.
Path Rough Walking for Seniors
I’m a senior and found the path to be too rough for me to walk it comfortably. It is rocky with so much unevenness that I was wishing it were paved. Also, I was wishing there were more signs that indicated the location of the next tee. I ended up backtracking more than once because I guessed wrong, which meant even more walking on the uneven path than was necessary. But fairway grass was in good shape, as were the greens. Challenging course because of the hilly terrain.
