About
Foss Park Golf Course has a convenient location in North Chicago that is an easy drive in from the city. It's a public course that is known amongst locals for being one of the area's best golf values. The layout is wide-open save for three holes that are framed by towering mature trees. The golf course strikes a good balance between being challenging and playable. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy but the massive greens are more forgiving. Each hole offers a variety of different playing options, which makes the course appealing to a wide range of skill levels. The golf course has plenty of sand, plus water hazards come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range and large practice putting green available at Foss Park G.C.

Great Experience
Course was in great shape and the greens were smooth and fast.Played in 4 hours
Meh.....
It really is a nice course and kept up very well. The staff was courteous and the practice range was nice but, well, mats. Pace of play was slowed by players ahead of me and frankly I didn't expect as many on a Monday morning. My game was way off putting me in an even worse mood and at the 10th hole there was a tie up with the threesom and twosome ahead of me and it took two hours for the front nine with this holdup I decided to just leave. I might be back but it's a 40 minute ride for me so I'll probably play closer to home.

Hiked almost 50 minutes up to North Chicago to play at Foss Park last weekend. The course for the most part is nothing special, but they do keep it in good shape. My favorite holes are #13 through #16. There is a small creek running through the course that cuts through 3-4 of the holes. Other than that, there aren't too many hazards, which is a disappointment because I feel like this course could benefit from a few extra sand traps and maybe a few more trees on the front 9. The burger provided in the meal deal was superb. I would definitely try to get that same deal again if I ever decide to return. Chances of that are unlikely as 50 minutes is a bit too far for a course like this, but who knows? If there's a great deal next season, I might take it.

Great Fall Golf
Course is in great shape. Very windy day, hard to control mid-short irons. Greens were a little fast & tough pin locations. Great golf course overall.

Foss park experience
A truly honest golf course. I'm a 6 handicap and have trouble breaking 80 here. You will use all the clubs in your bag.

Hidden Gem in Lake County IL
Great course with friendly fairways on most holes. The back nine can get challenging with the narrow fairways when using the driver off the tees. Speedy greens. Always hit below the hole on this course as most are sloped to the fairway. Tee boxes could use some leveling but an excellent value regardless.
Somewhat slow service in the restaurant at times but decent bar food and a fish fry.

Really Nice Course
Well maintained course. Rough wasn't a jungle, and greens were in very good shape. Tee boxes were a little soft, but cut perfectly and very nice compared to most public courses. Layout wasn't too challenging, and extra distance from the back tees made up for the straight forward holes. Played solo late morning on a Friday and finished within 3 hours. Found a $19 Golf Now special with cart, but was worth much more. Great value. Will play again.

Demands acurate tee shots!!!
This course has come a long way since I first played it back ten years ago. the conditioning is great. The course is maintained and it shows. Fairways are like carpet, but don't get caught in the rough. Greens roll good, but tricky. Must make sure you're on the correct side putting, your going to need speed, touch and feel touch. If not count on a lot of three putts, just saying.

Good value for the money
I have played this course 4 or 5 times. Today was a great day. Check in was pleasant. We teed off a little before our tee time. The pace of play today was great! I think it had to do with it being so hot. It is usually a lot busier and pace of play is slower on the weekends (which is to be expected with the rates you can get). Overall the course was in really good shape. There was a few spots on the fairways that were being worked on but nothing that would hurt your game. The greens were in good shape as well, I wish more players would fix their ball marks in the greens though. I enjoy this course and typically can find a great rate.

Great course for beginners. Very open with big greens. Holes are far apart so a cart is advised.

Uneven an extremely soft/squishy tee boxes I know its rained a lot, but I've played this course 10-15 times and the tee boxes are always extra soft. Makes tee shots unstable and frustrating.

Great for beginner and intermediates
This course is great for beginner and intermediates. It is nice to hit the balls through 18th. Strongly recommend for FUN.

Front Nine Twice!!!
This course, at least the front 9, played well twicel. Due to the recent rain it was cart paths only. No problem except for when we completed the front 9 a league was teeing off and we could wait 45 minutes or play the front nine again, which we did. We were not happy, but did not want to wait. The starter should have known better, he could of had us start on the back nine and finish on the front nine. I don't know if I will ever go back and check out the back nine. Poor management.

Early Play
The day was cool and got cold after noon. But the course was in very good condition and fairly open. The greens were moderately fast and the ball rolled true. The club house was excellent and the food made it all worth while. I played lously even for my first time this year, but I can not blame it on the course.
