Foss Park Golf Course
About
Foss Park Golf Course has a convenient location in North Chicago that is an easy drive in from the city. It's a public course that is known amongst locals for being one of the area's best golf values. The layout is wide-open save for three holes that are framed by towering mature trees. The golf course strikes a good balance between being challenging and playable. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy but the massive greens are more forgiving. Each hole offers a variety of different playing options, which makes the course appealing to a wide range of skill levels. The golf course has plenty of sand, plus water hazards come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range and large practice putting green available at Foss Park G.C.

Almost a hole in one
I’m a beginner golfer (over 19 handicap).
Foss Park offers a mix of open and tight fairways, complemented by mature trees and various sand and water hazards. With five sets of tees, the course provides a fair challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The course condition is good, and the greens are well-maintained, but many golfers do not repair their divots. The course plays at a medium to fast pace, but some days, it plays a little too fast.
The clubhouse offers great food options. Range passes are reasonable.
Where is the cart?
I paid with a cart included, but for some reason there is no cart available. If the conditions change, you should notify in advance so that I can prepare at least.
Me-so slow
The pace of play here is enough to make you quit the game. Used to be my go to course for a last minute round but not any more. A woman ahead of me was playing single, I asked if I could join her and she said NO . Couldn't believe it...
Golf at Foss Park
Nice course. Friendly staff. Pace of play was slow….that was the only downside
Excellent
Could not get 10% discount due to limited time
Good value
The course is a nice municipal course in good shape-… not many green side bunkers but trees come into play. Good value
Slow Play
I have played Foss several times over the years. This was the first time it had an incredibly slow pace of play (2 groups waiting at every tee box after the third hole). There was a ranger out there, but he did nothing to look for the source.
I won’t give up on playing there, but they have to fix that problem or lose me as a player.
First Timers
Great course and great staff! We accidentally started on hole 10 without any direction but it ended up being fine! Lots of trees but very well maintained.
Hard to contact the pro shop
I find the course in pretty decent shape although some wet spots that have standing water although it’s also pretty obvious that the grounds crew are doing their best to maintain the course because you can see them.
However, the pro shop is not good at all in picking up calls which is very disappointing and frustrating because their are times when you really have to speak to a staff even after completing an online tee time reservation. This is the biggest part that needs to improve in my opinion.
Lack of customer service
Didn’t play when I found that carts were not allowed. Tee off has no customer service. None. Had to play at another course. No help. No phone number. No nothing.
