Short game reveal
This is my first visit to Stony Creek golf course, and I knew just what to expect…lots of par three holes. Yes, this is a course that tests your approach mettle.
The round starts benignly enough with a short par four. Hybrid and 8-iron is enough. The golfer is then treated to a series of par three holes of varying lengths and green configurations designed to minimize your club selection while maximizing your creativity.
A word about hole routings: there exists an interesting, if not bewildering, series of hole placements. Luckily, the course has little arrows on trees and cart path directions to keep you from being lost forever!
Interestingly enough there are some surprising shot values to this little course. I think the par four 14th and 15th holes require accurate driving (the 14th is a blind tee shot around a stand of trees), while the dogleg par four 15th hole’s approach shot over a gorge with an awkward visual to the green requires your most confident swing to land safely.
The greens are generally friendly yet demanding and you’ve got to read the breaks near the holes to avoid three-putt “par stealers.”
In total Stony Creek golf course offers a test of accuracy off the tee coupled with a need for solid approach play. Short, but full of bite.
Golfer 45
We played 18 holes 3hr 45 minutes it’s really fast playing golf on weekends!!!Course was in really good condition!!We are really enjoyed!!
Green's need work
All of the greens are in bad condition, many divots, many brown spots and dirt in many spots.
Nice easy outing
Golfed with my teenage son. Course was in decent shape except for a few holes. Pace was slow but ok for us. Plus it was Father’s Day so not in a hurry. Cost was reasonable. Overall good experience.
Challenging but slow
This is the first time I’ve played this course in years. It’s still the same as I remember short but challenging. The course was in good shape and the staff was friendly.
Two things course Marshall talking loudly in your backswing and the extremely slow pace of play.
Marshall seen me back off my shot and readdress but continued his conversation.
After hole 2 we were 3 deep at every hole. Hard to get in a rhythm. Spread out tee times.
Would not go again nor recommend.
Bad experience and would not go again. Management is horrible. No sense of decency of respect of the time. We had a tee time of 12:20 and we’re offered to tee off at 12pm. We did then on the second hole someone went ahead of us and when asked they were saying they did not want to wait for the group behind us. We played ahead of them after this and then still tried to get ahead because the did not like a hole! Players and staff have no sense of tee time. We saw a ranger one during the game. He just watched us tee off a hole, then took off without saying hi or asking our tee time.
Some people were told to start on 1, then some others were told to start on 10 on the back 9. This created confusion and congestion.
The greens are in horrible shape. Divots everywhere, dry patches and a bunch of grass missing.
Never played par 3s this much on an 18 course.
Oh, and to top it off, an employee was watering a Gren at 1:30pm on a Friday. Result, a soaked green.
Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere if you take the game of golf seriously and are expecting a timely and smooth experience.
I am not one to write bad reviews, but I had to share my experience. As a golfer I always forward to new courses. This one just sucks.

Tough greens. A little beat up. Quite the challenge for a small course. We’ll do better next time.
