Should Not be a Top-Rated Course
Don't get me wrong this is a good course. I found it on Golfers Choice Top Courses, and it has no business being so high on that list. It was a good value course for my $40. Pace of play was dreadful, which isn't necessarily the courses fault. Don't let that list fool you like it did me.
Great course
One of my favorite courses in Central Illinois. Always a challenge and just overall wonderful place to play.
Lots of hills
The course is challenging for a bogey golfer. It was fun to play a different layout with all the elevations, but it was difficult. Putting was not easy either. Lost a few balls but not as many as I thought I would! Fairways were in pretty good shape. They are working on replacing sand traps so once that's done, it will be nice. Our round took almost 5 hours as it plays long.
Lick is SLICK!
Always a course in great shape, quite challenging, and slick greens!! If you are not hitting them straight, they have more balls to buy in the clubhouse ;)
Great Course.
Great course. Great staff. 10/10!!
Always a treat
Played Lick for the first time in over 20 years since moving away from the area. The bent grass makes the course a ton better. A tough but fair test. If you have a wayward driver pack a lot of golf balls.
Too hard for casual golfer
The course is beautiful. It had just been aerated, so the greens were a brutal combination of lightning fast and bumpy. The greens are very difficult to begin with. Everyone in our foursome struggled. I'm an a golfer that gets out about 6 - 8 times a summer. My skills are not up to the challenge of this course.
Great/Tough Course
A few blind shots, fast greens and some length make this a tougher than most course. Some holes are wide open and a couple are narrow off of the tee. I like a challenge.
Good shape except traps
Recent downpours washed out traps, left with mostly dirt. Otherwise excellent conditioned tees & greens!
Where should I hit it
Everything about this course in wonderful except that on about 5 holes you had no clue where to hit it. It would be nice if they had some tall flags to help out for direction to hit it from the tee. Great condition and friendly staff. Will play again the next time in that area
