Pleasantly surprised of the golf course we had an enjoyable day and will be coming back
I love this course
Excellent 9 hole course to get your fix of golf. Challenging yet doable for all levels. The staff is very friendly and a joy to work with.
Scheduling and Carts
I booked a 12:30 time (twosome) with a cart a day prior. On arrival I was informed it would be at least 30 minutes as the course was out of carts. The cart arrived at 12:50 however the starter allowed the 12:50, 1 and 1:10 groups to start ahead of us. This turned the course into a log jam the entire time with at least 2 groups waiting on every hole dragging the pace to a crawl. A 9 hole outing took 3.5 hours. I understand things happen but why allow the overbooking?
They should call this is Soaks.. lol
I had a great time playing. There is water on alot of the holes, and well, let's just say a brotha got wet! Had a good time nonetheless playing with my brother. Absolutely coming again.
Challenging course
Nice little challenging course. A little tight which makes for more target golf, which is what I like
Best 9 hole
This is probably the 9 hole course in the neighborhood. 2 par 5 holes with 2 par 3 holes and the rest par 4. Greens are tucked as well.
Nice 9 hole course
It was my first time playing there, would go again. Had a very nice round and fun, despite the leaves on the greens
IMO a real gem for a 9 hole course
The first time a friend introduced me to this course, I could not believe that I have not heard of it before. It's only a 9 hole course but if they had another nine just like the first 9 it would be a real championship course.
I was surprised at how fast the greens are for a 9 hole park district course. There are a number of holes that are extremely difficult to find your landing spots. Either out of bounds and in trees on the left and a big pond on the right. Very little area to land a driver in. If you don't use a driver you are way back. Hole 4 could be on any championship course and make most of those courses better. The landing area on your 2nd shot (par 5) is very small. If short you are in the water and if long you are in the trees with no shot.
This was my fourth time playing the course and I still haven't figured out how to play hole 4 yet without walking off with a double bogey. I end up either in the water or in the trees. You really can't lay up before the green because the landing area is actually narrower than the green itself.
There are a lot of good holes on this course for just being a 9 hole course. Often I tell people that most courses have at least one or two good holes. And that is for 18 holes. This course has at least 4 really good holes and it's only for a 9 hole course.
I did play it from the back tees and it is a much more difficult course from there. I played with 2 ladies and even with them playing from the front tees it still was a really good test of golf for them.
Even with it being near the end of the golf season here the course was still in really good shape. Only one green had a lot of leaves on it but it has been really windy here. I was expecting more greens to have leaves all over it.
They really do not have too much in the way of food other than hot dogs and pretty much just beer.
Don’t be fooled
I payed for a tee time including cart and when I got there the attendant wouldn’t give me the cart and wanted to pair me up with someone else when there was still a ton of carts sitting out there, personally not a fan of playing with random people so I had to walk the whole course if I didn’t want to play with someone in accordance to the man running the counter, been here a few times and never ran into this problem, he wanted me to pay for the cart even though it was included through this purchase, last time I come here
