About
Odyssey Country Club is a challenging layout that was designed by Harry Bower and two-time U.S. Open winner Curtis Strange. Strange won in 1988 and 1989, putting him in the company of only six others in the century-long history of the U.S. Open. His influence is apparent in all the strategic elements of the golf course as well as the risk-reward options. This demanding layout is not exactly beginner friendly. Staying on the fairways is crucial or your ball will be met with deep rough. Water is also a prominent presence on the golf course. Twelve holes either feature a water hazards or play along the water's edge. Odyssey Country Club's 16th hole is memorable for its tricky island green, which naturally draws comparisons to the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

Great concept
It appears the golf course has transitioned to some type of non-profit benefiting veteran's charities. A lot of veteran's leagues/outings,
This was the first time I have played Odyssey since the 1990's. It was interesting to see how the course and surrounding development has evolved.
Conditioning was a bit mixed. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. Greens were not fast, but rolled nicely. I don't think the clientele they cater to is bombing a lot of greens from far out, so there were very few ball marks on the greens. Tee boxes were kind of sponge-like and many seem to have not been moved in a really long time, which is strange for bent grass tees. I don't get the impression they are really treating the rough areas.....the rough grass in late may is still sort of dormant, extremely thin and matted down with a ton of clover and crab grass. To be fair it seems virtually everyone rides at this place, so the carts have taken a beating on the rough around the greens. Bunkers were in fantastic shape which is hard to come by these days and was a pleasant surprise considering the moderate prices they charge.
The layout is pretty good. Trees have grown up, so nice mix of open/wooded/water holes, etc. The greens tend to be quite small and many are incredibly shallow. Greens are also very flat, so once on you should not experience many 3-putts. The course used to have rough fronting all of the greens, which tend to be pushed up/elevated a bit. They have since tightly mown the rough leading up to all of the greens. That was a very unique design feature of the course that I miss, but I'm sure it speeds up play considerably.
Worth a try if you are in the area.
Good course, well maintained
The course has improved over time. There aren't as many birds (geese, lake gulls) as there has been in the past. The greens were rolling good. The traps had sand in them (some courses I've played had little or no sand in them). Looking forward to playing there again.

Fivesomes!
This is a pretty nice course, but apparently they now allow fivesomes. I was behind a two some who was behind the fivesome and there were no rangers or marshalls on the course. It was brutal. If this is their practice, I will have to avoid this course in the future. Very frustrating. Unfortunately, I left my phone in the car or I would have called. But that shouldn't be necessary.

Weekday Sunrise Rider
I often play by myself before work. Even at 6am the course was in good shape relevant to the season. Greens looks great. Full staff working on the course by 530. I love layout of this course. Not a place where you are driver wedge on every whole. You have to manage the course with some midirons and smart decisions off the tee or go risk reward. For courses in the area it is always reasonably price. One downside I would say if I was forced is the white tees are way up. Should have played the blues but I followed rule of thumb for handicap.

Cold and Windy
The day was late April and when it turned overcast, it got colder than I wanted to play. The course has some nice holes and lots of challenging scenarios. Unfortunately all the on course amenities were closed. Can't wait to return in the summer.
