One of the best values around
My friends and I always say the same thing about this course. We really like the course layout. Course is always well kept. Staff is great. Food and beverages are well priced and we always walk away feeling like we got a great deal playing the course. Our only complaint almost every time is how crowded the course is and how backed up it is on the first tee. It is regularly 4-6 carts deep of people waiting to tee off. You regularly wait every
hole. Still I'd rather play here and deal with the crowd and feel like I've had a good value for my round on a nice course.
Good course, but better options nearby
It’s a typical track. Decent layout. Blue/ryegrass everywhere but greens so fairway lies can be iffy. Got a jumper a few times in middle of fairway. Greens little slow but rolled true. Worth a play but there are better ones not too far from deer creek
Great Value & Course for the Price! Hidden Gem in the Far South Burbs
It's hard to beat this course at $27-35 with a cart. Walking up you should understand you're not necessarily getting a 5 star course, but for the cost and the course playing conditions you'll get a Deer Creek, it's a solid 4 stars and a course that I would highly recommend to any golfers looking for a fairly priced course out south.
I have played here roughly 5 times now and the one thing that is always consistent is how flat, true and well maintained the greens are. This is something I personally find hard to find at many courses I play here in IL...In addition, fairways are always plush and mowed nicely. It's not "resort style", high end fairway; but again, for the price, it can't be beat. The only negative that I can think of would be that some of the traps are a little low on sand; some are almost hard pan. But, most are playable and not dirt hard pan.
Overall course layout is fun and challenging. There isn't a ton of water, but there is enough in all the right places to make it interesting. There isn't a ton of trouble to contend with, fairways are wide and many trees are small/saplings that don't impede shots into greens. If you tend to spray the ball around you can find hazards & OB but generally can still recover.
Last, but not least, I want to give a nod to the staff at the course. Always friendly when I have been out there, decent bar menu and drinks with very fair pricing.
When we played yesterday, they made an honest mistake quoting us about a league going off before we made the turn and when we came in to grab a drink asked about it and they gave us a free drink for the inconvenience...totally not necessary, but appreciated! Great little place in the south burbs - give it a try - you won't be disappointed.
Nice day; decent course; good conditions
Beautiful day in May. Course is a decent track, a handful of interesting holes; but mostly basic layout. Conditions pretty good - especially nice, although fast greens. Impressed with the sand traps - real sand and well-groomed. Pace OK, especially good on first 6 holes, then our twosome got stuck behind a couple foursomes - but they weren’t terribly slow so finished in just under 4 hours on weekday. $5 hot dog, chips and soda special at the turn. Will definitely play again. Good value for the HotDeal price.
Perfect weather
Great day of golf on a sun splashed afternoon. Course & conditions were best I’ve experienced there.
Home course always great to play
Ken McCormick (Check Spelling) is always a professional and the course was very playable for winter conditions.
A favorite.
Season just beginning here in Chicagoland so grounds crews doing minimal grooming. Nevertheless in solid shape, especially the fairways.
Staff great. Course solid. Fun experience.
Great Course
Challenging course with a great layout. Course was we due to season but the course was open and the greeens were in great shape. Best advice I coild give is bring a rangefinder and hope the wind is quiet!
SLOW!
The day we played (Friday after Thanksgiving), the course was crowded. Now, this was by no means the course's fault, as we were informed there had been an earlier frost delay that backed everything up. At the turn, we decided to play the front 9 again due to the back 9 loaded with carts. Course was in very nice shape for this time of year.
Great Day Golf in Early November
Turned out to be a great day of golf for the 2nd week of November. Course was in great shape, greens true,
despite wetness, lower 40's, light winds. Deer Creek is a great value, always in good shape& delivers a good challenge.
My home course
This course is a great place to challenge your game. There are numerous holes that make you adapt good course management to traverse the terrain. The people who work there are very friendly, and helpful. Would recommend this course to anyone looking for a good round of golf at a great price.
Deer Creek - A Nicely maintained Course
It is always a pleasure to golf here. The course conditions are consistently in good shape. You have sand traps and a few water holes to keep you honest. The 18th hole is always one that gets me as you have a long pond in front and blind to the green. It is a strong poke to clear the water, but I haven't seen anyone successfully clear it. It is a 80 degree right turn to the green. If you try and go left of the water and hit the fairway there is a steep slant right that takes your ball into the water . . . so stay as far left as you can without hitting the sandtrap.
