Great course for the money!
I played this course on a friday afternoon HOTDEAL for 12 bucks and it was worth the drive to university park. Pace of play was great, we finished in 3 1/2 hours. Greens were just watered before we tee'd off so most of them we really slow, but as we got to hole 12 the greens had dried out and were rolling quicker. Most of the greens have a lot of slope so be sure to keep the ball below the hole or you will 3 putt for sure. The Fairways were longer then most courses i have played.
Great Ciurse
Deer creek is in good shape and played really well. I played on a 90 degree day which kept most away.
nice course, terrible pace
I've only played this course on the weekend, but expect an over 5 hour round on the weekends. Course will allow golfers to go out in the middle of an outing. Ranger has no authority over golfers, was told that a two-some told a ranger they would not pair up with a single behind them. Course is in good condition, could use more trees to avoid feeling that fairways are over the top of each other.
Always a great time!
Always a great time! We play here often and really enjoy the course. Ken (the pro) is always great as well. Great value for the money. Thanks again!
Always been a staple in the area
Course is very fair for all types of handicappers.
Greens are always true to putt on.
Course is forgiving on many holes
Always play at least 5-10 times a year
Deer Creek
Good time on a good muni track
The course was in good shape
This course is challenging and always in good shape with well tended greens
a fan
I consider Deer Creek my home course. It is a course that provides you with enough trouble to keep your attention on the course. Like all courses, if you keep it in the fairway, you will have a great score.
December Golf in Illinois
Considering that we played in the middle of December in Illinois, less than 2 weeks after getting 4-6"s of snow, the course was in really good shape! I was very surprised and quite impressed by how well the fairways and especially the greens had held up. The bunkers were unplayable, but, thats to be expected. Pace of play was slow, but, I am sure that everyone else had the same thoughts we did - 50 degree day in the middle of December - gotta hit the course! I'm sure there won't be many opportunities left for us to get out and play for many, many months. So, all that being said, we could not have been happier! Thanks Deer Creek, hope to see ya again soon!
Course was in good shape
Great value and challenging course. Enjoyed the round & Will be back.
Great greens
One of the best values on the south side. Typically some of the best public greens around fairways all always good. Course plays longer than the yardage. Has the best 4 finishing holes of any course around. Some people have issues with the bunkers but I personally like them as I prefer firmer bunkers.
If it's recently rained the course will be wet but rarely unplayable but it does drain better than most courses except the bunkers. Overall it's probably the best value around. This course has many leagues and sometimes the pace suffers because of it but usually pace is pretty standard.
great challenge
fast greens are just one challenges, there's a task to each hole from tee to green
THE DREADED AIRATED GREENS
WHY DO NOT COURSES TELL THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT ALL OF THEIR GREENS HAVE BEEN PUNCHED ON THAT DAYS' MORNING.
SIMPLY PUT A SIGN " GREENS HAVE JUST BEEN AIRATED" NO, AT DEER CREEK YOU PAY THRU GOLF NOW AT A NICE RATE ONLY GET ON THIS FIRST GREEN AND A THOUSAND HOLES IN THE GREEN.
RUINS A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY COULD OF GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE. THESE GOLF NOW COURSES SHOULD INFORM THEIR PLAYERS OF THIS FACT NOT TO SURPRISING ON THE COURSE.
I've never had any course tell me the greens have been punched. If it's that big of deal you should know spring and fall to call and ask the course.
This course could use some some improvement
This course could be so much better with just a few tweeks.
1. Cut the rough evenly. Everytime I've played the course some sections of the rough on the same hole is cut while other sections are almost unplayable. It's as if the person mowing ignored that section.
2. Mostly every hole on the green has a crown. The person cutting the holes doesn't tap the hole once cut thus you get crowns.
3. Place real sand in the bunkers.
4. Place the tee boxes on an even surface instead of just randomly placing them after you mow.
Rough is rough don't hit it there it's supposed to be harder there. It shouldn't be cut evenly it's called rub of the green
Slow play and staff did not care
I have not played this course in 10+ yrs but decided to play some of the old tracks. The course itself was in great condition and all seemed well to start. The front 9 took 3 hours. I complained at the turn and was told there was a league out in front of us (was told when we teed off that the course was wide open). On the back 9 I noticed that the league was playing in 5-somes. I called the pro-shop and they said they knew about the 5-somes and would not send a ranger out. I walked off after 15 holes (which took 5 1/4 hours to complete). WILL NOT COME BACK! THIS WAS A WED MORNING...NOT THE WEEKEND!
Gem in the south suburbs
Deer Creek is a well maintained course. The fairways and greens are pristine. The staff are friendly and very courteous. Overall, a great place to play. Competitively priced. Would recommend this course to anyone.
Very nice course
First time at this course and was very happy with it
Suprise
I have not played this course in over 15 years, and boy was I surprised. It has really grown up! It is now a beautiful lay out and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play a course on the south side. I cannot say enough about the place...
15 mind a hole is 4.5 hours a round. While this is to long it's not outside the norm these days. That's happened to me at every course I've played. Play george Dunn and tell me it's better. Only difference is you'll pay 70 bucks
