THE DREADED AIRATED GREENS
WHY DO NOT COURSES TELL THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT ALL OF THEIR GREENS HAVE BEEN PUNCHED ON THAT DAYS' MORNING.
SIMPLY PUT A SIGN " GREENS HAVE JUST BEEN AIRATED" NO, AT DEER CREEK YOU PAY THRU GOLF NOW AT A NICE RATE ONLY GET ON THIS FIRST GREEN AND A THOUSAND HOLES IN THE GREEN.
RUINS A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY COULD OF GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE. THESE GOLF NOW COURSES SHOULD INFORM THEIR PLAYERS OF THIS FACT NOT TO SURPRISING ON THE COURSE.
I've never had any course tell me the greens have been punched. If it's that big of deal you should know spring and fall to call and ask the course.
This course could use some some improvement
This course could be so much better with just a few tweeks.
1. Cut the rough evenly. Everytime I've played the course some sections of the rough on the same hole is cut while other sections are almost unplayable. It's as if the person mowing ignored that section.
2. Mostly every hole on the green has a crown. The person cutting the holes doesn't tap the hole once cut thus you get crowns.
3. Place real sand in the bunkers.
4. Place the tee boxes on an even surface instead of just randomly placing them after you mow.
Rough is rough don't hit it there it's supposed to be harder there. It shouldn't be cut evenly it's called rub of the green
Slow play and staff did not care
I have not played this course in 10+ yrs but decided to play some of the old tracks. The course itself was in great condition and all seemed well to start. The front 9 took 3 hours. I complained at the turn and was told there was a league out in front of us (was told when we teed off that the course was wide open). On the back 9 I noticed that the league was playing in 5-somes. I called the pro-shop and they said they knew about the 5-somes and would not send a ranger out. I walked off after 15 holes (which took 5 1/4 hours to complete). WILL NOT COME BACK! THIS WAS A WED MORNING...NOT THE WEEKEND!
Gem in the south suburbs
Deer Creek is a well maintained course. The fairways and greens are pristine. The staff are friendly and very courteous. Overall, a great place to play. Competitively priced. Would recommend this course to anyone.
Very nice course
First time at this course and was very happy with it
Suprise
I have not played this course in over 15 years, and boy was I surprised. It has really grown up! It is now a beautiful lay out and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to play a course on the south side. I cannot say enough about the place...
Pace of play was horrendous.
We had a 11:30 got off at 11:50 finishing at 5:30. We told the pro shop at 9 that it took us 3hrs. they seemed uninterested. The back 9 consisted of a 5 some in front of us not sure how that happened. We never saw a ranger the entire time. The course is a nice layout and is in good shape its a shame they don't enforce a 4:15 max pace of play. Hope they fix this, golf is no fun when u constantly are taking practice swings to stay loose because of the long waits in between shots.
Mediocre Everything
Expected to find holiday crowd and we did. Over a 5 hour round. No carts upon arrival. Rude patrons.
Staff was very honest and forthcoming. Just a mediocre feel to everything.
If there ere no carts at arrival that means the course is packed. I know they have enough carts for a 150 person outing so that's means there is at least 2 groups on every hole on the course. Anywhere would be slow. You can't blame them for being busy.
Always a favorite
Played with my sons and my brother in law for father's day. The course has had a an unusual high amount of rain in the past week. This made play quite a bit soggy throughout the round. The course was in good condition otherwise. The only thing that we feel should have been done is that virtually all of the traps were submerged to the extent of 6" or more deep. We even lost a few ball in the traps. They should have went out early and pumped out the water from the traps.
Nice course
Manager tried to high behind the fact a group of 60 were on the course!! Fast play rules clearly outlined in the golf cart! Had the whole course backed up! 2.75 hours for 9 holes!! Should have assigned a ranger to such a large group, to ensure GOOD pace!! Play at your own risk....obviously staff unable to manage FULL course! Nice layout, nice staff ....but it's all about getting a around of 18 in a decent amount of time!!
Great fairways
Fairways are manicured perfectly. Easy to hit to the greens.
Traps are virtually unplayable
For the price the course is very acceptable.. greens roll pretty good but the bunkers lack enough sand to play appropriate shots around the greens which leads to frustration with the overall experience!!
on the fringe
Would play here again, but it wouldn't be my first option. Paid $25 thru golf now, and that's the max I would pay.
Nice layout
Good pace on a Thursday afternoon. We will be back again.
Course is great
The only negative thing I have is the sand traps were junk due to the rain
deer creek review
For this early in the year the course is in good shape
First Round of the Year
After all the snow, I expected a cold wintery mess on the course. I found that Deer Creek drained very well and had no standing water or any patch of ice out there. Greens were very sticky, which made for very slow putts. Pace of play that day was terrible, but that was only that day. It has been better every time I go back. Clubhouse is not fancy and a little rundown, but for the price, this is a good/fair course.
Good course for the price
With it being the first nice day of the year and all of the snow just melted, this was a fun round. The greens were rolling very slow. That was the worst part about it. Most of the holes were pretty straight forward. This course is very forgiving, not a lot of hazards. There were a few holes that actually did test your skills, where if you didn't hit the fairway you had to lay it up. I will definitely play this course again when the warmer weather has been around for a while. All in all, I can't complain for $15 to walk 18!
15 mind a hole is 4.5 hours a round. While this is to long it's not outside the norm these days. That's happened to me at every course I've played. Play george Dunn and tell me it's better. Only difference is you'll pay 70 bucks
