Midlane Country Club Surprise
What a great surprise playing Midlane Country Club in Wadsworth, IL for the first time. 8 am tee time.. got off on time and never ran into the group in front of us. Course in fabulous condition, green run true (but if you play Midlane, play less break than you are reading.) Definitely challenging with water hazards on at least 14 holes, but fairway widths are generous to avoid trouble. Position golf for sure! Staff outstanding, along with putting green and driving range. I'm definitely heading back to Midlane again.
Exceeded my expectations
Course conditions were excellent. The staff should be very proud of the work they’ve done with the course. Water is all over the place but manageable. Greens were great for a public course (hate to say it that way) but they were much better than expected. Fairways are generous so step up to the tee box confidently. Approach shots are where one may struggle. Even the portapotties were clean and conveniently placed. Yes there are a lot of residences around but not terribly distracting. If I lived in the area I’d play here all the time. Staff was perfectly friendly.
nice place
Nice place to enjoy a day with your friend playing golf
Layout is nice but run down and lots of homes around
I enjoyed the layout and loved the decision making opportunities and the mental game aspect. The course is run down though. Lots of dirt where there should be grass, bunkers hard. Course just isn’t being kept up. I didn’t care for all the house around the fairways as well. The staff was great though and the practice putting green was one of the best I’ve seen. The just need to carry that over to the rest of the course.
Windy Windy Windy
Don't know why, but I played the tips. Need to play it like this, don't know what the set up is going to be for the SR AM. Being conscious Where is a good landing area and where not to be. Wind was affecting the putting, but I don't think it's going to be that windy Tournament time.
Itching to Play
This is one of the coursed that the Illinois Senior Amateur Qualifier is being held. Need to get comfortable with the lay out. Some holes are deceiving and if the ball is on the wrong side, you'll pay for it.
Midlane: Best Value for the Golfing Dollar
I recently teed off at Midlane for the first time this season. This could be a great year, course-wise.
They've cut back a significant amount of underbrush which makes the course look different and almost new. If you like playing from the Gold tees, you can actually see at 18 tee!
They've got a new dedicated pro shop, and the bar/grill has been redesigned. It looks much, much better.
The greens, though early, were nice and firm.
Happy to see the owners investing in the property. Now if they could just find a way to turn number 6 into a par five and pickup that Par 72!
Pretty good for March in IL
All in all the course was in ok shape for it being the middle of March in northern Illinois. Pace of play was good for the course being pretty full. We finished in a hair under 4 hours.
