Let it fly... but you’ll probably get thirsty
Wide landing areas so bombs away! It’s late in the season so I can see why they would want to save some of the tee boxes, but c’mon - they were all shredded. Some of the greens will need until next season to heal from I don’t know what, but they rolled pretty true - super slow, but true. Great layout and fair for all level of golfer.
Pro tip: bring your own drinks or load up before and in-between 9’s. Cart service is nonexistent as in there is supposed to be one out there, but you’ll never see it.
Solid layout
First round at Midlane and overall good experience. The layout is very challenging and in okay shape, hence only 4 stars. Driver saw very little use due tight fairways and good fairway rolls. I can see why the course held some qualifiers for the USGA. I'd play again for the rate and better course then most munis/park districts.
Good day with 3-new friends
Interesting course layout that demands attention and planning to get a decent score. I would definitely plan this course again.
Fairways and tee boxes pretty beaten up.. could use maintenance upkeep
Bring lots of balls
This is a good course, it is in need of some -box work, but overall it is a good course. The drainage is a bit iffy on some holes, but overall a winner.
A bit shaggy but still worth it
I’ve played at Midlane for years. I used to consider it more of a hidden gem when conditions there were really awesome 6–8 years back. The maintenance could definitely use a boost as most tee boxes are a bit shaggy, done fairways spots are burnt out, and several greens are rough. That said, for $37 w/cart on an early morning, there’s no better place. Quiet nature within the housing development, friendly staff, and honestly a really fun, challenging layout. I’ve never had a bad experience. Yes, it needs better upkeep. Yes everything is super outdated. But the golf is still really rewarding. The homes are the downside but it’s really a retirement community so that’s expected. Dynamic design that makes you think keeps me coming back to clear my mind there. Give it a try and don’t expect a fancy country club and you’ll appreciate it.
Relentless with water/trouble everywhere
Midlane simply put is a mid to high handicappers worst nightmare. Findable wetness on the majority of holes.....several forced carries as well. They also want $44 mornings/$39 afternoons on weekdays. The difficulty of the course plus the cost (it's a $30 value) plus the current conditions there's a reason the tee sheet is completely empty most of the time. We played in under 3 hours and had the course virtually to ourselves until we got to the last 5 holes and ran into an incredibly slow/rude 3 some playing the wrong tees that knew we were there waiting for them/refused to acknowledge us or let us play through on the 1st par 3 on the back nine. After they finished we had to yell at them to get out from behind the 18th green because they were packing up items from their cart/yapping instead heading to the clubhouse or to their cars. Overall the course is in okay shape (some areas do have issues) but most concerning was that several of the cut green areas are getting smaller and smaller...many holes have 5 feet or more of green fringe and that doesn't even go out to where the size of some of the greens were originally. .The course just doesn't let up....it starts out strong....the front nine is tougher than the back nine and by the turn many are discouraged and have lost half their allocated dozen already. Course has a decent routing and it's really interesting in areas. Mishitting just one shot will almost guarantee you run up your score in a hurry. It's a strong challenge but just not a course I'd like to play everyday.....once a year is a enough for me. Has range/practice area. Green speeds were okay tending to the slower side.....and some greens have patchy areas. 3 stars and may deteriorate below that due to the lack of revenue they are generating. Recommend once a year but a $30 value. Paying any more than that most will be disappointed.
