not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
Nice
Nice course I will play this one again some holes had blind shots and some are target golf shots
Top notch course for a bargain
This course was nearly immaculate with soft and fast greens, plush fairways, and well manicured tee boxes. This was a pleasure to play at 19.50 per person. Highly recommended.
Best Course for your Money
I normally don't play top tier courses so I'm not used to great fairways, well defined 2nd cuts and soft greens but this course had it all and for a great price too! PACE was great. Didn't have to wait once. I would recommend this course to anyone. We got a deal at $22 a person through golf now but still I think their rates are around $30 weekday and $40. Get out and play this course and you will definitely want to come back. I know I will be soon.
Excellent course for the money
The course was one of the nicer courses for the 16dollar tteen time. Will be going back again.
Fun course
Played on Thurs and had an open course. Worth the drive. Fun dog legs, carries, etc. Par 3's are great! Greens are a bit hard which made it hard to understand why they were a bit slow (but clean). Play the back tee's if you are intermediate or better.
Nice Course!
This was my first time playing at Acorns. I was quite impressed with the layout and overall condition. Tee boxes are typically neglected on public courses, but not here! I had no problems selecting a level spot from which to tee up and the turf was in good condition. Fairways and greens were in just as good shape. While certainly not easy, it wasn't terribly difficult--this coming from an average golfer who shoots in the low 80's pretty consistently. Loved the variety of holes--some straight, some doglegs, some through the trees, some out in the wide open. The staff was friendly, the carts are newer Yamaha electric carts, and the food was decent. My only "complaint" would be the cart paths--while concrete throughout, there are several areas that are in need of repair/replacement. But this is easily overlooked considering the quality of the playing surfaces. I will definitely be going back!
Bang for the Buck
Fairways and greens in very good shape. Challenging at times, but made fora more exciting round. High recommend this course. Right up the with Spencer T and Stonewolf.
Great Course
Having never played the course I really didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The course was in great shape, and it was in an extremely quiet and relaxing setting. Just a great round of golf.
I'll return
This is a great course for the straight shooter with the fairways llaying fairly close on some parts of the course. The greens were in great shape and held the ball pretty well if hit on the fly. It is worth the drive from St. Louis if you want a nice course at an affordable price.
Tight
Course was in pretty good shape, Greens were a little slow. Fairways are in good shape and challenging of the Tee. 18 was a tough hole with a heavy wind blowing directly into your swing.
Best Value in STL Area at the Moment
Played on Sunday, the course is in overall fantastic shape. For the $30 price tag, you absolutely can't beat it. The course layout is fun and varied. I will be coming back soon. Thanks Acorns!
Great course!
Course was in great condition and we did not have to wait on any of the holes. It was like we had the course to ourselves.
tight
Good deal for the money. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice clubhouse with good food. The course was in good condition. Straight shots a rewarded while errant shots don't kill you. Fun course.
Great Time
Love this course. Always in very good shape with an owner that is very friendly along with his staff.
Acorns golf
Great experience, loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorites
Just a fun course to play. Ball washers and club cleaners on the carts are really cool.
Cold and windy
Good: Great friendly staff, newer clubhouse and patio area, newer carts, relaxed friendly atmosphere. Course has a nice layout, challenging but playable for all levels of player.
Mediocre: Course signage and yardage markers. Tee boxes were shaggy. Greens were pretty rough, with lots of ball marks (not uncommon for farm county courses).
BAD: NO restrooms except at the clubhouse and these need work(sewage odors).
This is an enjoyable course overall. It needs a sign at the entrance as it is somewhat hard to find being off the beaten path.
This would probably be a good course for a small tournament or perhaps a couples twilight scramble.
Layout has a couple of goofy holes on front but back nine is great
Enjoyed playing this course it was a pleasure to play and I like the back nine better than front.
Enjoyed the layout
Course was extremely dried out (fairways) - your ball actually bounced up into the air on landing. Greens were in pretty good condition. Tee boxes not maintained very well.
Fairways and Greens vs. Rough
The greens were, for the most part, in great shape on this hot day. The fairways were in good condition. Unfortunately, the hot spell and lack of watering in the rough made it look less appealing. It probably is a beautiful course in the spring, but in August, it was looking a little bleak when you got off the fairway. The gentlemen that checked us in was outstanding and very friendly. I wish it were closer to my home (58 minutes), as I would be playing it more frequently.
