not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
Could be really nice...
Interesting layout with good greens. Facilities need a lot of tlc. Overall, worth playing occasionally.
Impeccable staff!
saturday was my first time ever playing there I had a tee off time as a single the course pro there hook me up with 13 of the finest group of guys I've ever met and enjoyed the whole day.I stuck around the 19th hole and the waitresses were outstanding! the course was fun you have to manage your ball on it in order to score, will go back very soon!
Hidden Gem
This place is great. Dave Stites (pro) is a great teacher. The course is maintained very well, conditions are always excellent. 5 sets of tees for golfers of all skill. White tees were playing long this time.
Nice Course, But!
Acorn Golf Links is a nice layout, with attractive scenery. It is well conditioned, and the greens, although pretty beat up with unfixed ball marks, putt well and are smooth. The one objection I found was the 5+ hour pace of play. If the almost 3 hour front nine as not bad enough, when I made the turn I discovered they had started a new group ahead of us at the 10th hole.
Great course for under $30
Short course with several tricky holes. Would play this course often if it was closer to me. The only thing in the down side is yardage markers seem to be inconsistent and not accurate.
Awesome course
Great place to play, challenging and fun, I would defiantly go back!
Enjoyable day!
The staff was great. Finding the 1st tee was a little difficult, once we did, the rest of the course was easily done. Very nice course, a few holes are a challenge, 1 and 2 for sure. Hilly and blind corners. Hope to return soon!
Beautiful course
Played my first round at Acorns and loved it. Does have some disappearing fairways but it makes for a more challenging round. I gave the course condition 4 stars only because of Mother Nature, fairways were getting dried out because the lack of rain but still very playable. Can't wait to play there again.
Nice day on the course.
Conditions were good even though rough was pretty dry in quite a few places. Greens played fast, grass collars were good. Plenty of areas to get into trouble with water. Friendly people and nice facility.
Acorns review
Great course and friendly staff. Great facility. New carts. Fast greens. Clean Johnny's. Great beverage selection.
Nice course, needs range
Nice very playable course. Scenic views without all of the houses. Probably because it's off the beaten path--not easy to find your first time. But if you can move the ball this is a good course to test your skills. Many holes are shorter and require something other than your driver. If you can draw or fade a fairway metal these holes are easy. If not, good luck. The course needs a real range, tough to warm-up on this one.
Nice
Nice course I will play this one again some holes had blind shots and some are target golf shots
Top notch course for a bargain
This course was nearly immaculate with soft and fast greens, plush fairways, and well manicured tee boxes. This was a pleasure to play at 19.50 per person. Highly recommended.
Best Course for your Money
I normally don't play top tier courses so I'm not used to great fairways, well defined 2nd cuts and soft greens but this course had it all and for a great price too! PACE was great. Didn't have to wait once. I would recommend this course to anyone. We got a deal at $22 a person through golf now but still I think their rates are around $30 weekday and $40. Get out and play this course and you will definitely want to come back. I know I will be soon.
Excellent course for the money
The course was one of the nicer courses for the 16dollar tteen time. Will be going back again.
Fun course
Played on Thurs and had an open course. Worth the drive. Fun dog legs, carries, etc. Par 3's are great! Greens are a bit hard which made it hard to understand why they were a bit slow (but clean). Play the back tee's if you are intermediate or better.
Nice Course!
This was my first time playing at Acorns. I was quite impressed with the layout and overall condition. Tee boxes are typically neglected on public courses, but not here! I had no problems selecting a level spot from which to tee up and the turf was in good condition. Fairways and greens were in just as good shape. While certainly not easy, it wasn't terribly difficult--this coming from an average golfer who shoots in the low 80's pretty consistently. Loved the variety of holes--some straight, some doglegs, some through the trees, some out in the wide open. The staff was friendly, the carts are newer Yamaha electric carts, and the food was decent. My only "complaint" would be the cart paths--while concrete throughout, there are several areas that are in need of repair/replacement. But this is easily overlooked considering the quality of the playing surfaces. I will definitely be going back!
Bang for the Buck
Fairways and greens in very good shape. Challenging at times, but made fora more exciting round. High recommend this course. Right up the with Spencer T and Stonewolf.
Great Course
Having never played the course I really didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The course was in great shape, and it was in an extremely quiet and relaxing setting. Just a great round of golf.
I'll return
This is a great course for the straight shooter with the fairways llaying fairly close on some parts of the course. The greens were in great shape and held the ball pretty well if hit on the fly. It is worth the drive from St. Louis if you want a nice course at an affordable price.
