not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
Tight
Course was in pretty good shape, Greens were a little slow. Fairways are in good shape and challenging of the Tee. 18 was a tough hole with a heavy wind blowing directly into your swing.
Best Value in STL Area at the Moment
Played on Sunday, the course is in overall fantastic shape. For the $30 price tag, you absolutely can't beat it. The course layout is fun and varied. I will be coming back soon. Thanks Acorns!
Great course!
Course was in great condition and we did not have to wait on any of the holes. It was like we had the course to ourselves.
tight
Good deal for the money. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice clubhouse with good food. The course was in good condition. Straight shots a rewarded while errant shots don't kill you. Fun course.
Great Time
Love this course. Always in very good shape with an owner that is very friendly along with his staff.
Acorns golf
Great experience, loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorites
Just a fun course to play. Ball washers and club cleaners on the carts are really cool.
Cold and windy
Good: Great friendly staff, newer clubhouse and patio area, newer carts, relaxed friendly atmosphere. Course has a nice layout, challenging but playable for all levels of player.
Mediocre: Course signage and yardage markers. Tee boxes were shaggy. Greens were pretty rough, with lots of ball marks (not uncommon for farm county courses).
BAD: NO restrooms except at the clubhouse and these need work(sewage odors).
This is an enjoyable course overall. It needs a sign at the entrance as it is somewhat hard to find being off the beaten path.
This would probably be a good course for a small tournament or perhaps a couples twilight scramble.
Layout has a couple of goofy holes on front but back nine is great
Enjoyed playing this course it was a pleasure to play and I like the back nine better than front.
Enjoyed the layout
Course was extremely dried out (fairways) - your ball actually bounced up into the air on landing. Greens were in pretty good condition. Tee boxes not maintained very well.
Fairways and Greens vs. Rough
The greens were, for the most part, in great shape on this hot day. The fairways were in good condition. Unfortunately, the hot spell and lack of watering in the rough made it look less appealing. It probably is a beautiful course in the spring, but in August, it was looking a little bleak when you got off the fairway. The gentlemen that checked us in was outstanding and very friendly. I wish it were closer to my home (58 minutes), as I would be playing it more frequently.
Excellent links style course!!!
Wow!!! This is definitely a hidden gem near the STL area! Zoysia tee boxes and fairways . Lots of elevation and par 4s and par 5s that you can be conservative with your club selection via low to mid irons or take a risk with your driver. Well maintained greens and fairways. Very scenic with many woodlands and hazards. No houses. The best value and quality of all the courses I've seen and played in the STL area!
Cheers!
Great Course, Great Value
Course was in good shape, greens and tee boxes were excellent. Will be going back again very soon. Staff was friendly, never have had a bad experience.
Like this course
We really enjoyed the course. I haven't been there in a while, and the course was in good condition. However, they had some drainage issues on a few fairways that left it pretty soggy.
Fun course with a variety of holes
Course was fun to play with a mix of challenges on each hole. The course was in good shape and has a nice clubhouse.
A fun course
The Acorns gives you the opportunity to use course management on a few holes. The greens were in good shape, and fairways forgiving. But, watch out for #7.
You should have a good time on this course.
A scenic, rural "thinker's" course with many water hazards, deep rough, and many fairway and green-side bunkers
My first time at Acorns was both challenging and rewarding, despite the drizzly weather. The tees were pristine. The fairways were in good shape. The numerous fairway and green-side bunkers were well maintained. The greens had been recently aerated, and a few had some bare spots. However, on the whole, the greens were in fair to good to great shape, and putting was a challenge due to their slants and dips. With the many water hazards, the tall and unforgiving rough, the "tight" out-of-bounds (in several places), and the several elevation changes, I really had to think about how to play each hole. The concrete cart path was in good shape for the most part. The clubhouse was clean and neat, and the snack bar seemed well stocked and inexpensive. The driving range was adequate. A larger practice green is needed and/or a separate chipping green. The rural ambience was pleasant, but it was at least a 45min. drive from St. Louis City.
Great Value
I had never heard of Acorn before coming across it on Golf Now. The tee boxes and fairways were in great condition, but the greens could use a little work. This was a challenging course, but not impossible by any means. It definitely rewards smart playing. Excellent value!
Great price- good shape- super fast pace
Great price- good shape- super fast pace- fun foursome
beautiful views on a pristine course.
My brother and I had a great round of golf at The Acorns. It is in fantastic condition and I look forward to playing there often. By far this was the best value of any course we have played through Golf Now .
