Layout has a couple of goofy holes on front but back nine is great

Enjoyed playing this course it was a pleasure to play and I like the back nine better than front.

Enjoyed the layout

Course was extremely dried out (fairways) - your ball actually bounced up into the air on landing. Greens were in pretty good condition. Tee boxes not maintained very well.

Fairways and Greens vs. Rough

The greens were, for the most part, in great shape on this hot day. The fairways were in good condition. Unfortunately, the hot spell and lack of watering in the rough made it look less appealing. It probably is a beautiful course in the spring, but in August, it was looking a little bleak when you got off the fairway. The gentlemen that checked us in was outstanding and very friendly. I wish it were closer to my home (58 minutes), as I would be playing it more frequently.

Excellent links style course!!!

Wow!!! This is definitely a hidden gem near the STL area! Zoysia tee boxes and fairways . Lots of elevation and par 4s and par 5s that you can be conservative with your club selection via low to mid irons or take a risk with your driver. Well maintained greens and fairways. Very scenic with many woodlands and hazards. No houses. The best value and quality of all the courses I've seen and played in the STL area!

Cheers!

Like this course

We really enjoyed the course. I haven't been there in a while, and the course was in good condition. However, they had some drainage issues on a few fairways that left it pretty soggy.

A fun course

The Acorns gives you the opportunity to use course management on a few holes. The greens were in good shape, and fairways forgiving. But, watch out for #7.
You should have a good time on this course.

A scenic, rural "thinker's" course with many water hazards, deep rough, and many fairway and green-side bunkers

My first time at Acorns was both challenging and rewarding, despite the drizzly weather. The tees were pristine. The fairways were in good shape. The numerous fairway and green-side bunkers were well maintained. The greens had been recently aerated, and a few had some bare spots. However, on the whole, the greens were in fair to good to great shape, and putting was a challenge due to their slants and dips. With the many water hazards, the tall and unforgiving rough, the "tight" out-of-bounds (in several places), and the several elevation changes, I really had to think about how to play each hole. The concrete cart path was in good shape for the most part. The clubhouse was clean and neat, and the snack bar seemed well stocked and inexpensive. The driving range was adequate. A larger practice green is needed and/or a separate chipping green. The rural ambience was pleasant, but it was at least a 45min. drive from St. Louis City.

Great Value

I had never heard of Acorn before coming across it on Golf Now. The tee boxes and fairways were in great condition, but the greens could use a little work. This was a challenging course, but not impossible by any means. It definitely rewards smart playing. Excellent value!

beautiful views on a pristine course.

My brother and I had a great round of golf at The Acorns. It is in fantastic condition and I look forward to playing there often. By far this was the best value of any course we have played through Golf Now .

Much better than I ever thought

I had never seen or heard of this course before I saw it on Golfnow. What a pleasant surprise it is! It's challenging with a lot of water, but also forgiving with wide fairways on many holes. The fairways and T-boxes were immaculate. The cart path is concrete, which holds up better than asphalt. This course way surpassed my expectations, and I look forward to playing there again.

Nice layout, short shot makers course

I was pleasantly surprised by a layout that is challenging but short enough that i had short irons on almost every approach shot. Several par 5s are reachable in 2.

A real Golf Course

This course is well thought out. It is not overly long, yet remains very challenging. It baits you with easy birdies, but with severe costs if you miss just a little. All in all, this is just what the average Joe (or Joan) is looking for.

Over Priced for what you pay

Great staff that was super friendly with a cool club house. This was the best part.

Course was a good lay out but terrible condition. All the greens had a fungus on them and had a lot of dirt sports and torn up areas. The rough around the green was decent. Very thick and challenging. Fairways were long and have not been cut in a while. Course was not in good condition at all. Has a lot of potential with the lay out but disappointing experience.

Good to come back

Haven't played Acorns for a couple years because I book exclusively on Golfnow and for whatever reason they have not been on Golfnow until a couple weeks ago. Pleasantly surprised to see them on there so I booked it. Always enjoyed it even though it's about an hour from the house. course is in good shape, tee boxes are nice, pace of play excellent. The 2 par 3s on front 9 are 2 of my favorite in STL Metro area. Had a nice electric cart, like that quiet ride

In decent shape

Only a few complaints to offer...
The tees were not cut , leaving grass too high (sometimes) to cleanly strike ball off tee. The greens rolled nicely, however they were a little chewed up from previous day scramble. Fix divots people!! Overall it was a great bargain for $15.00 off of GolfNow. The staff was very friendly. I plan to play The Acorns in the future.
