About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

great course and pace
2nd group was on the course that morning for the 740 tee time. It obviously helps to be in the earlier groups for the pace of play. easy to navigate course. slightly easier than the other course. will for sure be back

Pretty great
Slow holiday pace but thats to he expected I guess. The course layout is fairly interesting but it's absolutely lovely. Well kept and a great place even before you consider how reasonable the price is.
I play here often, it's local and a great value.

Good shape overall
They take good care of both courses. Some tee boxes were dry and a few greens bumpy but actual sand in in the traps that was playable! That has been a tall order for most courses this summer. Will be back.

Slow play. Hard to find balls in rough.
Course pace of play was slow where part of the problem was balls get lost in the rough. No drinking water on the course - use to prior to COVID. Course length may be an issue for some golfers. White tee length roughly 6350 yds while next level down is 5800 yds. Big difference which also can lead to slow play as people may be playing a course longer than their skill level dictates.
Having GPS in the cart is a plus.

Friday at St Andrew’s
Had a great time with a foursome. The staff put 3 separate groups of two behinds us which of course backed up a bit, but that’s to be accepted. We finished the front nine at exactly 1:46 which is ahead of pace of play for St Andrew’s. They need to consider combining twosomes like many courses, instead of leaning on our group to pick up the pace.

Not bad, just boring
Really isn't much to this course until the last 2 holes. Every hole is pretty straight and uneventful. Way too costly for what you get compared to other courses in the area. I would much rather spend money at their practice facility than on the course. I'd recommend only if you can find a deal, or during twilight rates.
