St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course

About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

great staff
Fun time controlled by course ranger. I started on the wrong course and the ranger caught up with me to get me to move to the proper course and continue play with my appointed group of players. Was moved so that I didn't cause problems with the league play. Ranger was very helpful and let me play with others.

A must play course!
We drive from Oak Park to play this course and the staff and conditions never let us down. Everyone is friendly and happy we are playing. The grounds are well maintained and the golf carts drive like new. Lots of trees for shade well manicured greens. Two courses to choose from pluse a huge driving range to warm up on. Afterwards you can chill at the bar grab lunch or dinner even sit outside and relax with a beer. One of my favorite places to play.

Happy with this course, very easy to navigate, nice bar, good food, multiple amenities during my 18. Pace of place was the best I’ve had this year.

Cool Weather Golf
Played Monday morning 5/2. We had had a lot of rain so it was cart path only on the course. We played the Joe Jemsek side, was in very good condition even with the rain. We were the first ones out and were done in2 hours and 50 minutes-would love to play fast like that all the time!! Why does slow play have to happen??
There was no issue with our pace of play, we played in in 2 hours and 50 minutes. I was commenting in general about why is there slow play out there at all courses.

The course is looking good for the weather we are having I do not know much about keeping greens in shape But last Thursday the weather was excellent for golf I like them a little quick and smooth After Thursday last week It was very challenging to even putt Between Metal Spikes Ripping Them Up, people not fixing there divots, and just wear and tear with the weather we have had. The weather has not been good but giving them attention would be appreciated The walking price is very reasonable however price for carts should not cost more the golf I walk now Its a heathy way to walk 7 miles twice a week

Nice course great value
I’ve played a few times I’ve the years and am a big fan of the owners as I play Cog Hill quite a bit. The course was in really good shape for the time of year and since there was a little rain it was wide open! We played 18 in just over 3hrs on a Sunday morning, you can’t beat that!!
