Always enjoy this course because its a real challenge and always in great condition. Also one of the most incredible practice greens you'll ever see.

Charges
Course is fantastic. Everyone that works there is great. Only issue I have is with the $21.75 service charge for making a tee time on the website. Pro Shop told me to call from now on for tee times. That way I don’t get that charge. Just seems a steep price for making an online tee time.

Great place
The course was in great shape. There was a small problem I was a single and the let me go off 15 minutes before their league. As you can imagine when I made the turn I was backed up. They couldn't have apologized more. Then they drove me out to 17 in front of the league total delay under 5 minutes.
When I came back to 10 it was cleared up,with no issues completing my round. A mistake was made and rectified the staff cares and the course is great. I'll be back again.

Our group plays the public courses in and around Lake County, Illinois. Shepherds is one of our favorites. The combination of value (very fair rates), course conditions, and challenging but fun course design(layout) keeps us coming back frquently.

Thickest rough I’ve seen there
I’ve played there about 20 times, and this was by far the thickest and most penal rough I’ve experienced on this course. That, plus high winds and far from my A game led to a bad score. But I’ll definitely be back. It’s a very fun and interesting layout.

Links style. Pristine conditions. $49 before 8 AM is the biggest steal out there. They could easily charge more and it'd still be a steal. The only upgrade this place needs is a driving range. The patio after the round is the icing on the cake.
