Plum Creek Golf Club
About
Opened in 1998, this Pete Dye design has hosted several high-level college and professional golf tournaments while simultaneously serving thousands of enthusiastic amateur golfers throughout greater Indianapolis and beyond. With five sets of tees ranging from just under 7,000 yards to just over 5,000, Plum Creek is playable by all golfers. Several ponds and a winding stream come into play throughout the course, placing a premium on smart play, all while minimizing the need for forced carries for higher-handicap players.

Poor Management & Conditions
This course has really declined. The pace of play has become terrible. Today, I played two and a half hours to cover 9 holes. There was an extremely slow foursome in front of us and they would not allow us to play through. When we made the turn with the chance to jump ahead, we found several additional foursomes had decided to start from the the 10th hole! This is the big problem. There is no on-course marshal and there are several "frequent" players who ignore all the rules. They drive carts all over the place tearing up the course, have no respect for other players, and no respect for the staff.
In addition, the condition of the course continues to get worse. The greens are terrible landmines of ball marks.
Management tries to maximize the number of players on the course and this does not help the pace or the conditions.
I bought a membership at the course this year but I won't be back next year.
Big Disappointment
This was never my "favorite" course in town, but it is nearby and always enjoyed the course conditions and risk reward elements of the course.
However, on a recent round I was grossly disappointed......It would appear that ownership has changed here? It is not run like it used to be - it used to be run very professionally. I was looking forward to our round in great weather. We waited forever and a day on every shot..... I thought it was due to a full golf course and poor mgmt. of that factor. While we waited with the group behind us on the 3rd tee I noticed a sevensome on the 7th green adjacent to us. That wasn't what was most disturbing..... come to see and learn that there were 3.5 empty holes between them and the 2 groups in front of us holding everything up. We were on pace to play a 6+ hour round.
Further the greens were in HORRIBLE condition......several divots every hole within a 10 radius of the hole every hole. Every hole I was fixing my divot and about 8 more.
This IS NOT a players course....... maybe what you are looking for if you like to have several adult beverages, listen to the groups near you cussing, hooping it up, etc......but not if you are into pure golf. What a shame.
Great Course
Sadly the temp was in the low 50's and there was a 20-30 mph wind. Otherwise this is a great course and one that I will definitely play again and recommend.
Simple, beautiful course
I really love playing Plum Creek. Pristine conditions, great Dye layout but also a very open/forgiving course...you can hit a little slice every once in awhile and still be okay. The pace of play was great...even with a group in front and behind, we never waited to tee off. Hard to believe a course in such good condition was only $45 a round after 2 pm. The ProShop and Bar were great...really convenient to make a stop at the turn...the food was just okay though. The staff was exceptionally friendly...after our evening round we went to hit more balls on the range and the staff worker was starting to put the balls away...even though he was cleaning up he dumped a bunch of balls out for us and let us hit a half hour more. If I lived in Indy, this would be my first choice to make my home course....great place and I'll definitely be back next time I am in Indy!
Nice course
Course was in good shape over all especially for so early in year. Staff was attentive and friendly.
Nice course even early in the season
The course was in great shape even though it is still early in the golf season. The greens were a little slower than when I played it in mid season but they still rolled true.
Good Shape
The course was in very good shape. The only problem on the day was that there was a five-some of ladies playing. We had to bypass them. I don't know of any other courses that allow five-somes. That was disappointing.
my favorite indy area course
Plum Creek has been my favorite course in indy area over the last 20 years. it is a challenge but if you keep the ball in play you have a chance to score. I struggle to make putts as the greens have subtle breaks. it is not too long so you don't have to be a bomber off the tee to score. this may be why I like it so much. after 50 the driver yards don't come as easy.
Pete Dye on a budget
Great course for the money. Fairly challenging; lots of tall grass, typical of a Pete Dye course. Elevated greens, long carries over water, gotta be precise off tee to score. Late in the season, so the greens were a bit chewed up, but still very playable. . I'll look forward to getting back again in the spring.
Great greens and bunkers.
Best maintained course I've played this year. Greens near perfect and bunkers very well kept. Bunkers on other courses this time of year are not playable. Paid a fantastic rate with a hot deal rate so it made this a great day of golf for not a lot of money. Great.
Good Experience
Staff is very friendly. Course is in great condition. Practice facilities are also wonderful. Good value for the money especially with golf now pricing.
Course is over watered and there is little roll on the fairwawys. Greens in top shape, pin placement was difficult the day i played.
While the fairway grass looks great for a drought stricken Hamilton County course, the draw back from over watering is there is essentially no roll on the fairways.
Greens were in good shape and were holding well.
First time, not the last!
I used a previous Hot Deal credit to snag a 2 pm tee time at Plum Creek. To my knowledge this is the first Pete Dye course I've played. To my enjoyment, our 2-some rounded out to a 4-some of evenly matched skills for a competitive round and lots of fun. The front 9 had just been aerated and we started on 10 thinking we'd have to play back 9 twice. Not so, by the time we got around 18, the front 9 were opened up. Free driving range, great condition of equipment, facilities and course. I'll be back!
Great course!
Played this course two days in a row! Loved it and keeping it in my database to play it again one day!
Plum Creek August 17 2013
Plum Creek was in great shape. This is a really fun course to play.
I love this course. Its tough enough to make it challenging, but not too difficult to where its no fun. Overall I LOVE THIS COURSE!
aweomse, well kept course! would go play it again!
Loved playing this course
I hasd not played this course in over 10 years, but it was as good as I remembered. The course was well maintained even as they were doing some upgrades on some of the holes. The counter staff was very friendly and explained the policy if course was closed due to inclement weather. I would recommend this course to others especially with the rate on Golfnow I got. Hopefully I will playing again soon.
great condition and experience
everythings was great except greens need a little more pace.
2nd Class Citizen
Did not feel welcome and believe it was in part because of booking tee time at a discounted rate from Golf Now. If you are going to be a "semi-private" club, then do not treat your public guests, paying patrons mind you, as 2nd class citizens. This ranged from the pro shop staff to the very unfriendly bartender. The actual course was in great shape and played more difficult than years past but my money will be spent elsewhere for the remainder of the summer.
Course in great shape
Course has several risk/reward holes.
Knowing where to miss greens is important, you miss on the
wrong side it will be a tough up n down.Ball rolls true on greens.
Fairways are in great shape. Multiple tees make it very playable for
every level player.Really the only thing they need is gps. There are yardage markers but not as many as you need when no gps available. Overall i would recommend this course.
Thanks golf now for a great price!!!!!
