Will not play again
Traveled to this course from Western suburbs of Chicago. Got there early for check in, as traffic was relatively light. Course not busy at the time. Pro shop attendant would not let me start round. Said that since I booked my tee time through GolfNow I had to wait because they do not make any money off of GolfNow. So I waited at the vacant 1st tee for 40 minutes. Ridiculous.
Also, fairways were like the first cut at most other courses.
Wet, but playable
When we arrived, we were informed cart path only. The course had been pounded with rain the night before, and it was real steamy. 10 years ago, this course would have been either closed, or a mud pit. Not now. Wicker remains a solid choice for golf in the Region and all things considered, was in fine shape. Thanks for taking care of the course.
Features.
Well laid out, great shape, fun to play you will use all your clubs. Good speed on the greens.
Poor Greens
The overall course was good and in good condition, but the putting greens were in terrible condition. They need a blower to blow debris off the greens.
Wicker Memorial Golf Course - Nicely Challenging
It has been about 25 years since I last played this course. They have made a number of changes to the course to improve it in that time. The course was in excellent condition. Play moved right along at a nice pace. Greens and fairways were well manicured. There are a couple holes where there are trenches running across the fairway and of course they are within driving distance, so good luck on them. I got lucky and made it over them, but it wasn't pretty (my drives). You will enjoy the course.
great greens not much else
i have been playing for over 40 years at wicker. the conitioning of the course other than the greens is poor; however, the greens smooth and fast and put as good as anywhere you can play now if they could fix the rest of the course (tees , fairways, bunkers) ou would a great affordable place to play.
Easy to get to
Course was priced right. It's easy to get to right off the expressway. Played 2 weekends in a row and played a round in 3 1/2 hours both weekends with an early tee time.
Great golf experience!
Cours. Was well maintained and groomed. Not too many leaves for this time of year
