Hills in the flatland
Gorgeous setting in metro Indy. Hard to fathom the elevation changes in flat corn country but this course reminds you of North Carolina. Another plus is no homes, just golf course. Fairways and bunkers in excellent condition, greens a little beat up, probably from recent rain. Gets a lot of play as well. Played in four hours which sometimes doesn't happen here. Newbies need to play the correct tees...if not, can jam up the whole course.
Great layout!
The course layout is worth how much you pay!!!. The pace of play was 5 1/2 so not great. Got paired up with, which was expected since it is an extremely busy course. Explains why the greens are in horrible conditions. The amount of ball marks, burned out sections and foot traffic make putting a real challenge on top of the course design. No matter the green conditions I would still go back and play again because of the layout.
Fun Day at the Fort
This was my first time playing The Fort and really enjoyed the track. Overall the conditions were very good. The course had held up pretty well to all the rain the region had received, although there were a few pretty mushy areas around. The course is not the most challenging course around although a few holes tested your skills and local knowledge helped on a couple holes. Overall, good solids course that I would definately paly again.
Best course in Indy
It's been awhile since I've been here but it's still in great shape and such a treat. I took customers and they loved it. The layout is fantastic, there is risk reward on the short par 4's and there is plenty of thinking to do on your way aroynd. The greens were a rad slow but received a ball nicely.
One of the best courses in Indianapolis
Lots of rain-cart path only.Very windy but playable. I love this course because of the elevation changes and variety of each of the holes.Pace of play was very good-course was not crowded. Got this round on Golf Now for $26/What a deal!!!
Good course
Used every club. Played after a lot of rain and the ground was saturated. Made it very challenging. Would love to come back and play again. Staff were excellent and made our first visit pleasurable
beautiful course
The Fort is a beautiful course! Unfortunately we played after a significant amount of rain so it was cart path only which made pace of play unbearable, don't know if it would have been better had conditions been different. We were paired with another twosome which was not what we wanted when we scheduled our time. I'm glad I played the course, it is gorgeous and fun but the other things would probably keep me from returning.
Great and Challenging Course
This my favorite course to play in Indy. The course is challenging and at the price is a good value for how well course conditions are kept at.
Central Indiana Surprise
You wouldn't expect the topographical changes like this on a course in Indianapolis. Very good track worth playing anytime. One of my favorite Indiana courses.
Great Course around Indianapolis
I've played several of the "top tier" public courses around Indy. For the price, this is probably the best. It is located by Fort Harrison State Park, so the scenery there is beautiful. The course was in excellent shape considering the high volume of rain we've gotten in June. Definitely recommend and will definitely be going back again!
Really fun track
Fun and fair. Course drains well after heavy rains so we didn't get washed out! Greens were good condition with exception of hacks not repairing pitch marks.
Fun Round
The course was in great shape. It was a little soggy from all the rain in the last few weeks. There wasn't that much bounce/roll in the fairways or green approaches. It was cart paths only. The greens were firm though. There were a lot of unfixed pitch marks on the greens. I did my part to try and fix as many as I could. The pace of play was fine. We only waited on a few holes. Our foursome finished in about 4.5 hrs, but that was cart path only and we did a lot of walking back and forth. It is a fun and challenging course
The genius of Pete Dye
This is my 3rd Pete Dye course to shoot this year, and by far this is his best design yet.
Mature course with the signature Pete Dye rolling fairways, strategically placed traps, set in a forest preserve setting make this one tough course.
Be straight or you've lost your ball. Fast and undulating greens.
Will play again and again!!!
Scenic and Challenging
Course is in great shape. Slow greens now because of wetness but will be lightning fast when it dries out. Over all Great Experience. Hit E'm Straight.
Great course awesome scenery
Loved it! Can't wait to play again! Course was in great shape!
Fort
Great course and a decent deal. However, we got behind some members who would not let us play through and that was frustrating.
Beautiful Course!!
Other than a snake on the cart path between 16 & 17, ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT COURSE! My only complaint would be the difficulty of the pin placements. Some really challenging putting. But that's good and fun. Perfectly manicured. Most scenic course in town!
Al
tremendous layout
Course was in excellent shape with ladies big ten tournament having just been played on course. Accuracy off tee is paramount due to high rough etc. Beautiful scenery on course and one needs to occasionally "ingest" the beauty of this course.
Mountain golf in central Indiana
I've played The Fort a couple of dozen times. The condition was as good as I've ever seen it. It's like playing golf in the mountains. A great course, will be back soon.
