Really fun track
Fun and fair. Course drains well after heavy rains so we didn't get washed out! Greens were good condition with exception of hacks not repairing pitch marks.
Fun Round
The course was in great shape. It was a little soggy from all the rain in the last few weeks. There wasn't that much bounce/roll in the fairways or green approaches. It was cart paths only. The greens were firm though. There were a lot of unfixed pitch marks on the greens. I did my part to try and fix as many as I could. The pace of play was fine. We only waited on a few holes. Our foursome finished in about 4.5 hrs, but that was cart path only and we did a lot of walking back and forth. It is a fun and challenging course
The genius of Pete Dye
This is my 3rd Pete Dye course to shoot this year, and by far this is his best design yet.
Mature course with the signature Pete Dye rolling fairways, strategically placed traps, set in a forest preserve setting make this one tough course.
Be straight or you've lost your ball. Fast and undulating greens.
Will play again and again!!!
Scenic and Challenging
Course is in great shape. Slow greens now because of wetness but will be lightning fast when it dries out. Over all Great Experience. Hit E'm Straight.
Great course awesome scenery
Loved it! Can't wait to play again! Course was in great shape!
Fort
Great course and a decent deal. However, we got behind some members who would not let us play through and that was frustrating.
Beautiful Course!!
Other than a snake on the cart path between 16 & 17, ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT COURSE! My only complaint would be the difficulty of the pin placements. Some really challenging putting. But that's good and fun. Perfectly manicured. Most scenic course in town!
Al
tremendous layout
Course was in excellent shape with ladies big ten tournament having just been played on course. Accuracy off tee is paramount due to high rough etc. Beautiful scenery on course and one needs to occasionally "ingest" the beauty of this course.
Mountain golf in central Indiana
I've played The Fort a couple of dozen times. The condition was as good as I've ever seen it. It's like playing golf in the mountains. A great course, will be back soon.
Way Over Priced!!
For the $$ there are much better values in the Indy area.
nice course.
Everything's good, but practice putting grain a lot slower than playing grains.
Best public course in the state
Got a killer deal ($20/head) to play on Mother's Day Sunday afternoon. First time here and I'll definitely be back. Beautiful but very challenging course. Lots of sand and undulating fairways, huge premium on accuracy. It was cart path only the day we played, but I didn't mind it and it wasn't too crowded to slow us down. If you see a good deal for the Fort ($30 or less) consider it a steal and book it!
Not worth the money
After loading our cart we were told it was cart path only. This is not a course for a 67 yr old to walk. You had to look HARD to find a soft spot on the course, anything in the fairways was firm and dry. the only soft spots we found were in low lying areas of the rough. The tees were in terrible shape. I have seen tees on 20 dollar courses in better shape. The greens for the most part were in good shape and fast. The course is a beautiful piece of property, it's a shame that it isn't in the shape it should be in for the money charged.
GREAT golf course!
This is my favorite golf course! It is challenging but fair and the course was in excellent condition.
nice
Best shape I have seen the course in a while. Greens very quick. Great value.
Beautiful Course
Beautiful course. i can't complain for paying $40, but you might as well walk with cart path only rules. Very large fairways with a lot of elevation. I'll take sore legs to play this course any day. Only complaint: my six pack was given to me in a bag instead of a cooler. Staff was exceptional. Course condition was great for the time of the year. Anytime you see a hot deal snag it!
The Fort Golf Course
The Fort is always a delight. Very challenging. Partly due to the terrain, but also because of the great design and course condition, which is always excellent. Pace of play can be slow if you're behind those where the course eats them up and spits them out.
Played with my buddies and we always grab the opportunity to play here when we can.
Beautiful Course
First time playing The Fort. Course was in great condition considering the amount of rain we received in the days prior. The course is challenging, but is fair. There aren't a lot of hidden hazards. Staff was friendly. Pace was good.
Not worth the money...
This was my first time playing this course. I live in the Noblesville area and play many courses around the area including Sagamore. Given the amount of money that it cost to play ($50) and the condition the course was in, I doubt I'll be back any time soon. It's an unjustice to golfers when courses over price their rounds with out giving clear notice of the course conditions. First, a cart-path only rule was enforced, which I don't mind. However, I wasn't told that until after I payed...and was still charged for the cart. Second, the greens were atrocious, covered with poa annua, dirt and debris, and had obviously not been manicured in a few weeks. The tee boxes were in decent shape, nothing fancy, and the fairways were ok at-best. Granite, it was the first of April, but there is no way I would have spent $50 to play on that poor of quality had I known first. Golf is suppose to be a trustworthy sport, but instead you get robbed by over priced, munciple courses for horrendous quality. That round wasn't worth $30, let alone $50. All that being said, everyone one working there had an excellent attitude and were extremely nice.
